Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread Hey, at least the trophy stays in Catalunya, right?
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread lol
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread Well, at least the thread hasn't been locked. But I can't help but wonder if the Catalunya Cup threads suggest how many of us are (dare I say) glory hunters. A Catalunya Cup match where the lineup is comprised mostly of B team players gets hardly a post. Granted, it was played in midweek, but next week's Champions League game against Lyon with all the big names back in the fold may possibly hit 4 or 5 pages by halftime. It will certainly receive at least 5 times as much attention as this thread did. Heaven forbid, but if the Barca first team were to be wiped out by some unforseen tragedy and the club had to make due with B players the rest of the season, will we all jump off the ship? Do we only care about WHO is wearing the shirt during a game and not the shirt itself?
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread yeah, I don't like that thing myself. But I don't like the fact the club is ignoring these games too... Others send their best eleven and we send out B and former C team No matter which players play, I'd be unhappy seeing Barcelona losing to Girona, for example.
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread To be fair though, the only open dates to play these Catalunya games were during the FIFA dates when the big names weren't available because the rest of the schedule is booked up. And it gives Rijkaard a chance to evaluate other players performing in a 'big game'. May not be 'big' for us fans who are used to seeing Liga and CL trophies being won, but for the players who are trying to make their mark it's a big game. One of the very few times I get a chance to see them and I look always look forward at the opportunity.
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread ^^ I had the same thought. I can chalk it up to a couple things. One that it was a midweek game and two that it was not televised. Speaking personally, while I am a relative new fan to the scene (two years) I have adopted Barcelona as my team win lose or draw. I know some guys that follow the player and will therefore root for the team they play for. I love everything Barca stands for and am proud to say that I'm a fan and will always be one. ....stepping off soap box now...
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread I hear ya, usox, I can't speak for everyone but in my case I will at least offer up the weak excuse that I thought this was just a friendly tourney, and not an intensely competed affair. Also, there's just a lot going on in sports right now (for a fan in Southern California like me, at least), and although I would like to know how the young'uns are doing, I gotta say a part of me wonders which among them will even be here when they reach their 20's. That's just modern soccer. I promise though, if I do end up moving to Barcelona and teach English, I'll be at these games for sure. (And not just because they might be cheap enough for me to get into! )
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread well, i have to admit that the internationals this week were more important to me and that took up my attention. since i couldn't watch/listen, i read this thread for info. hard to comment too much when you haven't seen it!
Re: Copa Catalunya Final :: Club Gimnàstic v FC Barcelona :: 11/9/07 :: Pre/During/Post Match Thread I've been waiting patiently for a torrent to show up, but figured if it wasn't up two days later its not going to happen. sounds like i didn't miss much.
