    Welcome Shawn Hunter!

Today, Chivas USA will introduce former president of AEG Sports Shawn Hunter as its new chief executive officer, president and part owner, and his first order of business is to turn the team's success on the field into a success at the box office. "I do believe that Shawn will be able to turn it around," Cue said.

    more here!

We are the necaxa of the 90s:(

They used to say necaxa players would shake all the fans hands after the game.

    Part owner?

Whose part of the ownership is he getting?
Does this mean that Vergara is selling his share?

Will this "Identity crisis" that Jesse talks about in the article, mean that
there will be a re-branding around the corner along with new colors and new city? I hope that Hunter can see how much success the galaxy is having with that strategy.

I second that query? "Part owner"? If it's true...damn! Now we know another Chivas USA owner! I am thinking somewhere the writer fudged up.

LOL. No. More like UAG. Great team that deserves a greater following. I think it's a matter of patience and need a broader marketing.

that's very interesting if he has in fact negotiated an ownership interest in the organization, i would think it would facilitate some pretty drastic changes. if this is more cue's team than vergara's (and if hunter is an owner, now even less so vergara's), couldn't a rebrand be on the horizon as the chivas brand isn't moving much in this market? i just wonder how close cue's heart is the chivas storyline.

I am guessing not as close as it is to his bottomline.

there's this massive rumor floating around.

Ex-AEG employee Shawn Hunter gets partial ownership with the intention of selling Chivas USA to AEG. (since AEG isnt getting its profits from empty chivas home games). Since Vergara would no longer be in the picture, the chivas name would be dropped, they would be rebranded, and AEG will then look at shipping Chivas out of HDC and into another city and into a new stadium ($$$).

i was worried about this before and now with Hunter getting the labels CEO, President, and Part Owner.

    AEG = evil

    Hold up!

Let's slow down a bit guys!

Nothing is set in stone until we see what happens today.

Rebranding and relocation might not be bad.

Chivas Los Angeles sounds cool. [a palm tree replaces the tree on the badge]

A new stadium in OC? Pomona?

We just have to wait until the press conference.

IF Vergara sold his shares then you can bet the team will loose the Chivas name since he owns the rights. I can't see Antonio Cue paying Vergara royalty rights. If they can't get the Chivas brand sold in LA their is no way it will succeed anywhere else, LA is one of three cities with the most Chivas supporters.

So if they move, Chivas name is out
if they loose Vergara, Chivas name is out,
if they loose the Chivas name a lot of supporter will be out.
(I hope this is a just a rumor.)

I know that this is what a lot of Chivas USA supporters want but with the CD Guadalajara ties our team has a sense of history.

We need to build our own fan base and our own history, They have proven over the last few years you cannot live on the history of a team thats in another country. For the most part Chivas Guad fans have NOT supported us adn frankly it has hurt the attendance, IMO.

I agree its far too early to start these crazy rumors and we need to enjoy what the team is doing NOW. At the very least we have one year at HDC left on the lease, lets sit back and see what the new guys brings to the table.

I see what you are saying but for the most part 90% of the fans that support Chivas USA are their because of their ties are with CD Guadalajara. If that is no longer the case those fans may leave, attendance will be worse then now. I can't see them making new fans in a city that highly favors the Galaxy. The team may have to leave. Doom and Gloom, I hope this is rumors.

    It's official

Not sure what to make of it, but the franchise needs a shot in the arm, no doubt. Even if Vergara is selling his part ownership, I would imagine he'd want his Chivas brand plastered all over the place.

Personally, I'm somewhat in favor of a rebranding, but I know it's a sore spot with many hardcore Chivas USA fans.

Something's fishy. This marriage doesn't seem right. BTW, the first Coyotes logo was crap, so was the uni.

"I am confident that, with the addition of Shawn to both our front office team and our ownership group"

took this from the official press release.
maybe there is something to the rumors that was cited earlier

Why do we need another owner? I dont like this very much. I would never think either Cue and Vergara would move the team but I think Hunter will. Maybe Vergara wants out but I highly doubt it.
