How are players kept fresh with an incomplete Senior Roster and when only 14 players are trusted to see the field?!

Do you think that "magic spray" they use on injuries could have magic kool aid in it?

This is what I'm saying. FDA is simply not paying attention.

I was so flabbergasted by that comment that I just chose to deny it occurred.

I'm not defending this, but Nicol is probably referring to adjusting the training regimen.

To FDA's credit... and understanding his primary role as soccer writer for The Boston Globe, his focus at this point has to be on the coming international friendly at Gillette, especially considering the opponents, the likely crowd, and the desire of his editors to cover this first and foremost.

The only news about the Revolution to report would seem to be Nicol's suspension next week, which is really something of a moot point considering that he'll likely be up in a club box during the match relaying instructions down to Mariner.

I mean, there's no real injury concerns of note, we're apparently not looking at any new players (let along expected to sign them), there appears to be no dissent in the team... the team is just going through the motions of preparing for Saturday.

    It is what it is...

I like where it says you can't argue with their formula.

What formula is that? The bringing a tired, undermanned team on a gutsy cup run only to sputter out in the final formula?

Given that the only things he has to say about the local club is either incorrect or misleading, I'd say that he doesn't deserve much credit.

    5 EC final appearances + 3 MLS Cup appearances = 0 trophies

    Yeah, real successful formula.

But it's how the team defines success. Making the playoffs is still considered a success. Not winning anything can still be considered a success by some of the fans, so nothing too shocking there.

    it's all relative

now, as revs fans, we want more, we need more, we have to win a championship.

same with dc/houston...if they don't win a championship/trophy, it is NOT a success

however with the likes of columbus/nyrb/rsl/la/colorado/etc...an eastern conference championship/mlscup finals appearence would be considered a successful season.

im in the "if we don't win, im burning down krafts house" formula=most ne supporters

    Repped!!!

Lots of people disagree with me when I attack the media..especially if I attack FDA...saying it's not up to them to promote, hype and market the Revs. Then what does everyone call the cheerleading that goes on for the other Boston team sports???
Or better still...FDA should NOT sugar coat anything he writes. I'm sure he's heard more than one time that this ownership is apathetic, blah blah blah..from me at the very least more than 3 times...or actually 3X3X3 times, who knows..I lost count. Yet, some of the blatant and glaring apathy that this ownership has revealed to everyone goes unsaid...unprinted...unverified.
Why? I'm sure there are hundreds of reasons. One of which is not to call to task a dedicated owner such as Denny Crane...I mean, if it wasn't he who would invest in our game..who would???

The list of reasons probably goes on and on...but if FDA surely was a writer who loves THIS game..he needs to do some searching and research of his own and print it. Either way, I can shut up about it..or the "shiny happy people" can put a sock in it...

Because when people finally wake up, it ain't coffee that they'll be smellin' coming from this FO....say it how it is, that's all. Isn't that what journalism is supposed to be??? or are other "nothing is wrong here" fans going to correct me about that one also..?

That's Dell'apa talking, not the Revs.

In a building full of very succesful people, it's hard to imagine they think almost is good enough. I think they do want to win a championship or two. The fact that they don't go about it the way you would isn't their problem.

Right now, they're a demonstration of two principles. First, that of rising expectations. If I told you eight years ago that the Revs would make it to a finals every year for five straight years (heck, if you include the Open Cup it's seven) it would sound pretty good.

Second, that last step is often the hardest. If Winston Griffith's shot was just a bit lower, if Heaps or Dempsey didn't muff the kick, if the whole team didn't get caught with its shorts down after Twellman's goal, would we be having this discussion?

Yes, it's painful that the Revs can't quite put it all together, but it's not fair to say they don't care.

If they cared enough they would have upgraded after every one of those losses and they would not go into the post season this year with two empty roster spots. When a team does not use all its resources to achieve success, there is something not right. To say you don't want to add a player because you are afraid of how it will affect his current players it not acceptable in my eyes. If it means a deeper roster and more competition on your team for playing time and he is not a known cancer, you pull the trigger and sign someone.
