Has Chivas USA's 1st Team Ever Played In Guadalajara? If Not Why Not?

I can't recall if this has ever happen. I don't think so but does anyone know?

I am puzzled on why this does not happen more often if at all. I think it would be a great way to put a strong connection between the two clubs. It could be a great way for Chivas USA to help grow the interest of Chivas Guadalajara fans.

If they could find a way to get a crowd in Guadalajara for one Chivas USA game, the CD Guadalajara supporters could maybe start to feel a connection and it may get translated to the CD Guadalajara fans in the USA that haven't embraced Chivas USA yet. I am not expecting a sell out capacity but maybe 15 - 18K people. I know that would be hard since we can't seem to do it in the States but I don't think its impossible. The FO needs to wake up and find ways to help the fan base grow.

I am rambling on but you get want I am trying to say. Interested in opinions.

I know Chivas USA has done their pre season in Guadalajara in the Chivas soccer complex. During half time of a chivas game they presented the Chivas USA team to the fans in el Jalisco. What we need to do is buy quality mexian players to play for Chivas USA. I find it very hard to believe theres no cheap quality mexian players playing in the first division that wouldnt come play here.

Yeah! that was back in 2005 when Chivas thought they could send some players from Chivas 2nd division if not 3rd division to come here and conquer the league... a few months before the rude awakening happened. Panchito Mendoza is the only one left from the team that was introduced to the Chivas fans back in 2005.

I am not even sure if Guzano was even with them.

In regards to your second statement... Yes that is the sad true!
A lot of Mexican players continue to look at the MLS as an inferior league. Just as a lot of fans do... with that in mind, I do believe the day will come when a lot of players from not just Mexico, but from all over the world will be wanting to come play here.

But did they play in Jalisco or were they just introduced? The problem with the team that was presented in the inaugural season was that they were horrible. With the team we have now I feel as do they could spark some interest because they are that good. A good 2-3 preseason games, in Guadalajara, well marketed, could do good to spread the fan base of the team.

Buying cheap quality Mexican players I don't think will improve the situation because nobody will know who these players are. We will get quality Mexican/American players, as well as other races, through our academy, so buying cheap quality Mexican players won't be need. A big name however would not hurt.

I think the Superliga might have opened a few eyes. It is time to face reality and accept that the gap between MLS and FMF is not that far apart. Hell, the only FMF team to survive the first round was Pachuca. They just happened to win every tournament that they entered.

On another note, a match between Guad and CDUSA carries far to much risk. This match would create a rift among the fans and risk an embarassment on either side.

I wasn't referring to match between Chivas USA and CD Guadalajara. I was referring to Chivas USA playing other teams at CD Guadalajara's stadium. A preseason warm up against likes Atlas, Tigres, Saprisa, etc :)
