Fans, Chicago Fire Soccer now have player-specific desktop wallpaper for the 2007 season. For a sneak peak, visit here: http://chicago.fire.mlsnet.com/t100/fans/wallpaper/ P.S. - We apologize for not having Jimmy, Jordan, or Justin. They were unavailable the day of the photo shoot.
yeah they are not great - what is with the purple in some also i hate this 'chicago fire soccer' crap way you refer to the team
I agree. Everyone knows that people desire darker background wallpaper because most of their icons are white font with lighter colored icons. Also, it could have been nice to have a "action/motion" shot for each featured player...I can only hope they do something more. I'm sure some will like these enought to use them, but not me.
You should appologize for more that that. Wow, are those horrible. Not having all the players just shows what a half ass job was done.
My wife usually doesn't say much but she was really disappointed with the photos. You can't even see the players' faces on many of the pictures so unless you have a good shot at the shirt, you might not even be able to know who the player is. Give us some good photos--action shots would be nice.
Sure they aren't perfect but at least they're something. Yeesh, since when do we expect perfection from our wallpapers?
No, seriously. Perfection from our wallpapers? No one wants perfection, but those are repulsive. Every part of them. The design... the execution. I honestly think that if we all found some way to scientifically measure how much people hate those wallpapers, I would win. To paraphrase a great review: I hated these wallpapers. Hated hated hated hated hated these wallpapers. Hated them. Hated every simpering stupid vacant fan-insulting moment of them. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like them. Hated the implied insult to the fans by the front office's belief that anyone would be entertained by them. Someone in the front office is just completely out of touch with reality. I have really struggled to enjoy the Fire for the last couple years. I have wanted to... but it's been hard. The last couple months have been really interesting. I've enjoyed the matches themselves... the new coach, Blanco... but these have set me back 8 months into the reality that John Guppy is a schmuck. Anyone who would greenlight these wallpapers needs to be sent packing. That said, I am happy that these wallpaper photos helped to diagnose Ivan Guerrero's obvious constipation problems. I hope his injury gave him the chance to recover from those. Seriously though... someone photoshop something decent. Show them how it's done.
Man, posting that took a LOT of schwartz. Look at those freakin' poses! I mean, what could the photographer have been saying... "ok... cover your breasts... no... higher... stand dorkier. Perfect." Ok... you... turn around... ok... imagine there's a 93 year old woman looking at your naked ass. No... you're shy about it. You're not glad. She's making really inappropriate comments. Ok, Jon Busch... now... look... she just took off her shirt. Perfect" "Rolfe... the old lady just said your penis is small. Check." "Ok... Barrett... you're standing at a urinal. Check out the guy next to you."
Wow interesting glamor shots....they're all "artsy" like what girls would get for their senior yearbook photo.
Why does that background remind me of a Coke commercial? The bubbly surface, not the red sunburst probably... I'm not virulently against them... but then again I'm not in the market for a Fire wallpaper... My kids are much cuter.
Geez. I often marvel at the negativity on these blogs, but I think the hate mongering on this thread is one of the worst I've seen. They're just wallpapers, how does this effect my life? I would suggest, "not at all." Certainly nothing to have Guppy fired for, as someone suggested.
I think it is just the utter failure and/or lack of anything creative. I mean if they did a Blanco one with his signature pose, 99% of the Fire fans would have that on their wallpaper.
I definitely understand your point. And you're right, a Blanco wallpaper of him doing his pose would be great. I guess I was more upset about the venom that was being spewed. My question to you is, are other MLS teams offering these types of things? Personally, I don't know because I don't visit other team's sites, but I see the Fire providing a service that (while bad) someone spent time on, and all everyone does is complain. And someone ripped them for not having all the players. I think like 3 were missing and the original poster, obviously from the FO, said those guys weren't available. I guess I would just like to see more positivity from the boards at times. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today and wanted to complain about the complainers. Maybe I'm excited that the Fire finally climbed back from the dead and are currently sitting in the playoff picture and didn't want to see something negative about the team right now.
I wouldn't have any of those. Maybe something taken during a match, but no way a studio portrait of any single player.
