It's 2 close to call in my eyes ! Pele never played in net, hence a slight advantage to The Cat. what do you think ?

Pele was a horse...but he was a days of old Landon Donovan. He was afraid to go abroad and only left Brazil in the twilight of his career to play in the US against mostly amateurs.

O'Shea delights in many and all positions he undertakes. He made Ryan Giggs look 22 again two seasons ago. He cheekily chips shots over Arsenal goalies, and he can play in goal himself.

I think the answer is obvious.

    O'Shea all the way.

Cleary O'shea is better then Cygan. Here is some evidence to back up The Cat

Pele actually had to try, while Jonny just falls back-ass-wards into all of his killer moves. Jonny all the way.

I realize this won't change the final outcome, but I do have to point out that Pelé did indeed play in goal and was in fact Santos' back-up keeper in the days before subs were allowed. He did not give up a goal in his entire career.

    Still. John O'Shea.

Wow...this thread is classic. Rep all around!

I love O'Shea. Not only is he a good contributor, but he is class off the pitch as well. It is pretty clear that he is not bitter about sitting the bench and is happy with the limited amount of time playing for the club he loves. It also seems like he naturally gets along great with everybody on the team.

I remember a while back, O'Shea was going through a streak of games with the level of contribution of, say, Richardson. A lot of people on a lot of different message boards wanted him sacked because he wasn't MUFC quality (which he has shown considerable improvement since then). I remember a poster here saying that one possible reason he was never sacked was because of the possible effects he has on team morale. I think that is an agreeable assumption.

O'Shea hands down. Did Pele ever keep a clean sheet? Did he ever have an 80% goal ratio in a season? Not even a fair comparison IMO.

O'Shea nudges out Pele, Beckenbauer and Jody Morris in my world all-time starting XI....Pele never sent a group of piss-drunk scousers back to the s***holes they crawled out unhappy , having spent the last few pounds they made prostituting their sisters to watch Johnny Boy hammer home a United win..

    O'Sheale is the man!!!!!!

I never got to see Pele play live, so I'd have to go with O'Shea.

Pele was class, but if I had to choose one player to build a team around, it would be O'Shea.

If O'Shea was Brazilian and Pele was Irish, no one would've even heard of this Pele guy.
