Mission accomplished with Cup #2. BLOGGED: http://goalseattle.blogspot.com/2007/09/sounders-are-regular-season-champs.html
Didn't you say you weren't going to recognize the Commissioner's Cup this year, because of the imbalanced schedule? Or was that back when the Timbers were in 1st? http://goalseattle1.proboards101.co...n=display&thread=1184913898&page=1#1184946887 Congratulations to the Sounders though. Was a fun run right to the finish.
One) He didn't start this thread, I did! Two) Ever think that you DON'T have all the facts, and that MAYBE, despite his own misgivings about awarding the CC, since the LEAGUE is awarding it, he's just following along. And three) Nice backhanded compliment to the Sounders, and ECS. This is for you:
I was just repeating what he said. Are you mad at me, or at him? Oh, and thanks for the red cards. Sounders fans are pure class. And what was backhanded about my congratulations? Single it out and we'll all know. Edit: Oh and thanks for the personal attack in the PM. Do you EVER quit??
We are proud of your accomplishment, Sounders! From out of the playoffs to first place in one season! Go Seattle Go! At one point with only one win after eight matches, SOUNDERS rally to take the league regular season! Love ya, Boys!
I see it didn't take long for the northern wanks to pull this thread off. And sounderfan, you just got owned. Allison just proved why you are the BIGGEST bandwagon glory hunting customer out there. Hard copy evidence. How about you write your words a little larger also, I can't read them at all!!!! Go wank off to a David Hasselhoff poster.
At you of course. After all, it is always about you. You're welcome. It couldn't be given to a more deserving person. No because you sure don't
Bandwagonning the Cup-winning SOUNDERS since 1974! Woo-hoo team! Sounderfan: Row 26, Aisle D, seat (who uses a seat!) Sounderfan, section 113, 2007! 2007 Commissioner's Cup Champs: Photos from our double-cup winning campaign (one to go!) http://goalseattle.com/gallery/2007SeattleSounders
The last USL-1 club to finish top of the table and then go on to win the playoffs championship were the 1998 Rochester Rhinos. In 2002 the Sounders ran away with the table, then fell flat in the first round of playoffs. The 2007 Cup-winning Sounders are in a different 'position.' Seattle had to fight all season long for what they have earned. 9 matches were won by 1-0 scores. Seattle were W-1 D-3 L-4 after 8 matches. The 2002 club cruised with one of the highest point totals in league history, and won 23 matches. The 2007 Sounders won 16, and are used to battling all the way through. That should be an asset for them in the playoffs. We shall see!
I was wondering when someone was going to bring this up. Funny its one of your own. Anyhow i dont see how this year is going to be any better. Theoretically if you waxed the league in 2002 you should have won. I dont see how winning the title on the last day this year would be beneficial to you. To me it shows that the playing field is more level now. That the playoffs are going to be that much more difficult. I guess you will spin anything to sound good. Maybe you should actually put some thought into your posts before just sounding off.
Trophies are good. Jinxes are excuses. Seattle Sounders do not look for excuses. Win or lose, they play hard for trophies. Go Seattle Sounders! 2007 repeat Cascadia Cup Champions 2007 Commissioner's Cup Champions http://goalseattle.com/museum/2007/index.htm
Let me explain this to you. Because the field has been so close all year, the Sounders have had to work harder to win the cup. Because of that, they don't look past any team. When you walk away with the league, you get overconfident and it tends to bite you in the ass.
Updated: http://goalseattle.com/trophy_case.htm Can we be the team to break the streak and win *both* league and playoff cups? Give it a go, Sounders!
Here you go Sounderfan, start wanking! He's not wearing an emerald blue speedo, which I am sure would be paradise for you, but you don't deserve that.
At least a club (1998 Rhinos) has done both Commish and Playoff Cup before. Here is something that has never happened, and the Sounders relish the opportunity... No club has ever won the league playoff trophy, not even made the playoffs the next year, and then won the league playoff trophy again the third year. Sounders 2005...won USL-1 Final 2006...didn't make playoffs 2007...??? Go for it, Sounders! Actually, no club has ever gone from out of the loop to first place the next regular season, either, and Seattle have already managed that!
It's also all that much more of a story for the Sounders when you consider we started out 1-4-3 after 8 matches! Going 15-2-3 over the final 20 matches, while also making the USOC semis is a great accomplishment. Credit due to Coach Schmetzer and also to assistant coach Darren Sawatzky. Darren was and is the 'vocal element' on the Seattle bench, and he also runs warm-ups and some practices. He has the guys in great physical shape with the regimens he has brought in. While I am dishing out attaboys, here's one to owner Adrian Hanauer. He didn't have to find us Sebastien Le Toux after Cam Weaver left for Europe, but he did. He didn't have to sign Taylor Graham and add to our player salary amount in mid-season, but he did. He didn't have to outbid every single club in the USOC so the Sounders and their fans could see home matches, but he did. Thanks Adrian and Sounders! I'll remember this season, however it ends, as a great one!
