During a goal celebration last night in Montreal, here's what a bench player did to the Montreal's supporters banner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE7aCWlevjA Beyond classless. Absolute garbage.
Out of curiosity, what did the sign say (not that it would anyway justify the behavior). How did the supporters react?
Yikes. Let's hope the league has a fine headed his way...perhaps make him unavailable for the first round of the playoffs? (Looked like a reserve guy).
Totally unnecessary and unprofessional. It is one thing for rival fans to act like fools but for a player to do that is completely classless. The league should throw a fine at him for his behaviour.
It's not about the Ultras, it's about a professional player tearing down a supporter-made banner. The player is #12 Jason Perry.
So they can't stick up for themselves and have to resort to having a player fight their battles? Daniel is right. It's not about what the supporters do, it's about what this supposed "professional" player did. They are supposed to not get involved with the fans.
I'm also curious as to how the Montreal fans were reacting to the Rochester players celebrating in front of them? In no way am I condoning the Rhino reserve player's actions, but if some, shall we say, "inappropriate" comments about the Rhino players parentage, ethnicity, etc, were being shouted their way, it might explain why he did what he did. Although, you'd think a "Rhino" would have a thicker skin than that! And we all know that Montreal players would NEVER do ANYTHING like that! (cough, cough, pdx '05, cough, cough)
Security did its job and kept the Stampede from really clashing with the Ultras, there where several altercations between them anyways.
The UM02 aren't exactly in a state to comment on ethnicity, we are all pretty much immigrants or 2nd gen. Plus it's usually right leaning sections who are racist.
The Ultras did what all supporters group would do at a player celebrating in front of them: give him sh*t. You clearly see Perry beelining for the banner, not even aknowledging his teammates celebrating, and viciously tear down the banner. Grande taunted the TA in 2005 after a goal and got into an altercation with the players, but that was it. A professional player is not supposed to get directly involved with fans during the game and tearing apart a banner I would say strongly goes against this precept. Yelling, taunting, giving the finger is one thing. This is something else.
Was there any word from the ref? That could've gone down as unsporting behavior (it doesn't have to be just on the field).
Ha ha ha. I love it. All Rhinos fans loved it. Cements Perry in our hearts. UM is classless scum who keyed a Cadillac Escalade doing 10,000+ in damage last week in Montreal. They deserve every dump on them they get. This is fantastic. That YouTube clip will be celebrated in Rochester. If Perry is fined, every fan in Rochester will chip in to pay it and then some. Daniel why don't you work to find out which of your criminal friends did the thousands of dollars in damage and turn him or them into authorities, instead of worrying about hurt feelings.
Is there footage of the UM keying the car, and why the hell would someone from the visitors (or their radio crew) drive into enemy territory in an expensive car?
So it's his fault that his car was keyed in the VIP lot? By the way. This is the first time the ultras have ever dared venture down to Rochester.
No, but with the animosity between the two clubs, which both Montreal and Rochester supporters have said in the rivalry threads is a pretty heated one, one would think to exercise caution. Especially, as you guys have said, the UM are a nasty bunch.
If any of your players had done that in any of your home stadia you would have loved it. Which is why I loved it. Get over it crybabies.
But would any players on any other team be as classless to do it? The only big baby I saw in the clip was the Rochester bench warmer with roid rage that ripped the banner down.
See, roch players are awkward middle children, not good enough to be on a good team, where you have professionalism and not on a horrible Victory-esque team, where you are humble. Oh well.
