My top 5 most over rated in MLS this season

    5. Abel Xavier, D, Galaxy, LA's back 4 is probably the worst in MLS
    4. Landon Donovan, M, Galaxy, the king of inconsistency lost his captains
    arm band this year
    3. Alecko Eskandarian, F, Salt Lake, cant seem to find that scoring touch
    anymore.
    2. Carlos Ruiz, F, FC Dallas, 4 goals this year, he should be doing much
    better than this.
    1. Claudio Reyna, M, New York, 3 assists this year in 17 starts. captain
america has definately lost his touch.

Are you joking? The back line of the Galaxy is only decent when he plays! He is an absolute animal back there! Have you watched any of the games he has played in?

being an LA fan since 1996, yes, i have watched many of their games this year. since august 1, LA has lost 6 league games, while giving up 15 goals in those 6. Xavier didnt play in only 2 of these games.

1 guy doesn't make a back four though...

Abel was LA's best player against Chelsea, and although at times unorthodox, he is LA's best defender. There are plenty of other players in the league (and on LA) that are more overrated than Xavier

I don't agree with Xavier or Donovan... Funny since you are the Galaxy fan... If I were you and I had to pick overrated players for my own team, I would go with Buddle and Pavon... Or if we're talking about production in MLS, then Beckham obviously. But tbh, I don't think any of those guys are really all that bad or overrated. It just seems like they'r eall having a bad stretch of games. I think LA is a good group of individuals that really just needs some training time as a TEAM before they can expect results in games.

What does it all add up to? The Galaxy is the most overrated team in MLS, obviously. But I don't plac ethe blame on any individuals ;)

I think most would put Reyna at the top of their lists... Unfortunate for a guy who has done so much for the Nats to come to MLS and have little impact.

Ruiz wouldn't go on my list because he's aging (I know Reyna is too, but he's a DP, so you are justified in expecting more). You might as well put Moreno on there if you're gonna put on Ruiz.

I think I'd have to put Beckerman on there. I like how he looks when I watch him play, but I'm having trouble coming up with an individual player with a worse record (that's not on the Gals). But again, I feel unfair saying that.

I dunno... to be overrated, you have to be rated to begin with. That means, you have to be DP, or near-DP status... So if I had to make a list it would go:

    1. Reyna
    2. Wanchope
    3. Beckham
    4. Denilson
    5. Waterreus

Honestly, I don't really think any American MLS players deserve overrated status. Compared tot he rest of the world, I think alot of them are probably underpaid and I think you have to be overpaid to be overrated. I could make a list of guys who probably shouldn't be playing professional soccer, but I don't think they're overrated either, because they could probably make more money flipping burgers.

Most of the guys on my list either haven't had a chance yet or have had injury problems, but they're getting paid and paid well and not really producing (on the field). Obviously, Beckham for one has been productive in other ways, but that's not what I'm talking about.... I honestly have a hard time naming anyone I honestly think is overrated other than Reyna.

    My personal over-rated:

    1) Landon "Wuss" Donovan
    2) Claudio Reyna
    3) Eskandarian
    4) Andy Welsh (Toronto also figured out he was over-rated)
    5) Martino

I cant really come up with five but i have three
    1.Donovan
    2.Wanchope
    3.Pavon

1.Dont get me wrong Donovan can play, but he doesent so thats why he's over rated you cant count on him.

2.Wanchope seems age is catching up and is not going to produce as people expected.

3.Pavon in my opinion is garbage this guy couldnt score if his life depended on him and has a terrible work ethic, he walks way to much.

I have two who i think shouldnt even step on a soccer field

1.Buddle-no comment but sunday league comes to mind

2.Barrett-He has to be the player who has missed more sitters in fire history, Blanco has given him tons of balls to just blow on and they will go in and he ********s them up.

    1. Reyna
    2. Pavon
    3. Guevarra (just keep him out of the league, okay? Who cares if he's finally kissing ass to try to get back in the league?)
    4. Boswell
    5. Edu
    6. Jaime Moreno (I think he's lost his legs, but he still finds ways to make goals on penalty kicks to pad his goals). At some point, his legs had to go (he's getting rather long in the tooth)
    7. Carlos Ruiz (reluctantly added under protest)
    8. Cannon (He's been suffering from post traumatic stress disorder this year from the shell shock of backing up the worst back line in soccer)
    9. Ramon Nunez
    10. Szetela (have fun across the pond)
    11. Martino
    12. Esky, the invisible forward
    13. Eddie Gaven (hate putting him on the list, but he's still got Martino syndrome -- too easy to knock off his feet)
    14. Josh Wolff (even if he's playing in Europe, he's an MLS'er to me.

...And please, people, don't put Abel on this list! The guy is a monster for the back line, but his supporting cast of characters sucks big time!

My God, I couldn't agree with you more. To me, Buddle is a disgrace to the uniform and shouldn't ever be allowed to play in this league again. He is the laziest waste of talent in the history of MLS.

    Okay, I feel better now...

Had to get that off my chest.

...And if you think Barrett has blown some sitters, you should have seen Lombardo send one to the moon in the FCD/Toronto match. This guy is supposed to be a forward? Who are they kidding?

MoJo's got more roster fixin' to do in the offseason.

That's a bit of a stretch. He's solid, but best in MLS? No.

Eddie Pope is far from overrated, he's just old.

I don't think anyone even rates Armas anymore, so saying he's overrated is silly.

I'd give Xavier some slack, he's been playing injured for the last month.

For truly overrated, it has to be Waterreus (honestly, Conway's been better) or, until he announced his retirement, Shaka Hislop (the most expensive keeper in MLS, never mind how he compared to other #3 keepers)...
