Can anyone remember the last time the US won a match with him in the line-up? I can remember a match against Morocco where his bone-headed play lead to their scoring. I can remember the first game of the WC, where he couldnt lift the ball to cross on about 7 occasions. I can remember the goal against Ghana with Reyna on the right side with no one to pass the ball to. I can remember two horrible clearances against Sweden that nearly lead to a goal. I can remember him getting beat on two plays that also nearly lead to goals and I can remember him getting pushed out of a play that lead to the Sweden goal. I cant remember the last quality cross, or over lapping play by him. If Brazil scores you can bet it will be off a Dolo mistake in marking or coverage. I hope I am wrong, but I honestly dont think he should be in starting line-up again. On the bench sure, but not as a started. Spector gets beat at times, but he never creates the play or makes the mistake that leads to goal scoring chances for the other team. He is better in the air and has a nice cross. Simek is probably my favorite right defender in the rotation. Tough, smart, good on the ball and makes excellent runs. Bradley is silly not to have one of those two starting right back for us. I dont like to hate on players, but I think Simek and Spector have far more upside.
These are some very good points. Dolo is talented, but lets himself out of the pictuer way too often. I like Simek a lot at right back. He plays as hard as Boca or Gooch without being a constant risk for a yellow.
Ecuador in March. He did pretty well in that game. I remember him being beat on speed once or twice, but otherwise he played well. He is more ideally a right-mid or right wing back than a right back. The guy has good skill and poise (which is why so many fans like him), but his size is a major defensive liability. Personally, I've liked what I've seen from Simek defensively.
