    Re: Crew-Fire in-game [R]

Every week now, every game is called a "must win". At some point, when you're not winning any of the "must win" games, doesn't that mean that you're out of it, or does "must win" have no meaning at all?

But, see, the problem is that the F*re was sucking wind and so they engaged in some "fantasy thinking" and went out and got Wanchope, Blanco and Conde.

Hey, did you see? The guy Dullass did some "fantasy thinking" about, Denilson, scored a goal for them. Won the game. Isn't hat silly? They think they can win games by bringing in more talent. They should stop this "fantasy"

And because of their ridiculous "fantasy thinking" the F*re i making a run and we're stinking up the league.

We now haven't won in eight games, going back to July 22.

And next week we're going to have to do some "fantasy thinking" about how we're going to replace Schelotto and Hejduk. Maybe the Puerto Rico Islanders, the official player source for the COlumbus Crew, has some great players they can send us.

Or maybe one of those clubs the Crew is now "partnered" with, like the one in Brazil. I can't even count how many guys we've gotten from them.

The Columbus Islanders - maybe we should just relegate ourselves to USL 1 - maybe there's someone down there we can beat.

So let's us all engage in some "fantasy thinking" of our own and fantasize what this team will call itself in Philadelphia.

well that was a wet soggy kick in the nuts

Our boys gave it their all, I give them that.

but yet again, we are the ultimate almost but not quite team.

A wet, soggy, kick in the nuts is right. I had to leave after the goal. I couldn't take it any more.

I can't understand how the Front Office thinks that this team is going to do anything but fall flat on its face. It reminds me of the old quote where the coach the Tampa Bay Bucs is asked, "What do you think of your team's execution?" And he replies, "I'm in favor of it." Night in and night out we lose. Late. Is it conditioning? Are we just sucking wind at the end of the game or do we just have one big collective brain fart? Now we're without Frankie and Guille for our next game. Anyone want to play against Kansas City? Maybe in our "fantasy world" one of us might have a little heart and devotion to the badge on the shirt.

In fact, I demand that the forum tagline be changed from "Under Construction" to "No Fantasy Thinking Allowed" or something along those lines.

Thank goodness I was stuck at the office too late to get down to the stadium. A full day (and then some) of overtime pay, plus, as a blessing in disguise, I got to watch this disaster from home instead of at the rain-soaked stadium.

Well, I think the Crew made a huge effort and created many plays tonight. I think they played a good game and for some reason the ball just didn't go in. Unfortunately this was a must win game and it is a shame we are practically out of the playoffs. It pi$$es me off to lose when you create all the plays, dominate the game, and get a goal against in the only dangerous play the other team had. Not to mention losing to the Fire.

    Some comments:

    - Moreno, dude, I thought you were supposed to score the goals. What have you done for this team?

    - Guille and Frankie out the next game. Perfect timing.

    - For a moment I thought I was in Mexico tonight. The border patrol would have had a field day at CCS apprehending illegal aliens. Somebody should have called them.

    I hate the Fire.

This is worse than being a Browns fan, worse than being a Cubs fan, and infinitely worse than any other team that I follow. Someone on here had a brilliant post a few months back in which they likened the Crew to a lying, cheating girlfriend that you always go back to, despite your better judgement.

The lack of finishing tonight made me sick. Thomas almost got that goal he may never actually get . . . Virtuoso alomst got the goal I now firmly believe he will not get (unless he goes to another team that plays the Crew). The almost scenarios make me sick, anymore, although my only solace - since my wife wishes the Crew would fold or move to Ann Arbor so I'd forget about them - is posting these bitter lamentations and bending my elbow some more. Maybe I'll set fire to my Galaxy tickets.

But that won't happen, because somehow, through whatever it is that causes dogs to chase their tails or eat their own puke, I will have somehow convinced myself that the Crew will pull it out next weekend. They'll find the missing ingredient . . . right the ship . . . figure it out. (Never mind that Schelotto and Frankie will be gone.)

My God, I hate this fcuking team. But I'll be right there next week, hoping for the best.

The fact that he is Brazilian doesn't mean anything. Check his bio. The guy played in the second or third division in Brazil.

We should bring Riquelme to our team. He is just warming a bench in Spain this season. Somebody needs to make the call....we need to borrow him. :)

I guess I'm confused. Where was it ever stated that he was supposed to score goals. I remember Sigi's statement when he was brought in and that was that we didn't have any forwards that could hold up the ball and get others involved, which is what he does. It was alot of crew fans expectation that we were bringing in a goal scorer, but if you look at his career that is not his game.

Having gone to the game I am EXTREMELY dissappointed not only due to the weather of course...

I probably will not attend another crew game this season..Its done i feel. This was the night..and chicago seemed to be the only team that knew it was a big game.

If you cannot grab 3 points at home in a crucial match while you have a pretty good attendance(at least before weather delay..i was actually surprised at it after too though) and not give the home crowd anything you dont deserve playoffs and whoever the coaching staff maybe deserves the sack.

The fans..I loved the noise..but I did not love how there just was not enough boos at the end of the game. We need to let these players know that we came out..spent our money..and endured the weather to watch them and they let more than themselves down. At what point do we boo this team??

Even more so..during the weather delay...2 random chicago fans were walking in the upper concourse while loyal supporters followed them and just harassed them. That was pitiful. Disturbing..Disgusting.

Guess they got the last laugh though.

Well back from the rain, err game.

I had to purge my copy on DVR. I watched the first 20 minutes on fast forward just to see if my eyes were deceiving me or not. Damn if that ref didn't eat every bit of embellished contact the Fire did. That made me want to puke.

That said though there were so many things to pick apart about the Crew tonight. They did dominate a large portion of the match and don't forgot they had to make two injury subs for key players in GBS and Pierce. Still, giveaways a plenty. Nobody used the wet surface to their advantage yet still played floaters over the top that were just going to skip out over and over.

    I better just stop now.

Exactly how I feel... may I quote you on my site with attribution?

Actually the crew did NOt play well. There was too much hoofing up to run-on! There was far too much waiting for the ball only to have it taken away by the player behind.

There was no smart positioning in front of goal... it's like the attackers were picking a man to mark them.
Sigi is playing Moreno as if he were McBride but there's no one to play the ball off to, which is what McBride had problems with at the end of his tenure here.

Only one positive thing I saw tonight.. isnt Kamara good at the head flick-on!.

You just have to face the fact that Blanco is playing the game under different rules than Alejandro Moreno and Schelotto are.

    Re: Crew-Fire in-game [R]

Tonight's result is not a big surprise. This team did not score goals last year and our "goal scoring" addition in the off season did not even suit up tonight. The Crew fought hard, had 16 shots to Chicago's 7, but the Crew truly do not have a goal scorer on the team.

MM said at the pregame forum that a legitimate goal scorer is still a big priority. He mentioned that two deals almost came about, but injuries to Chad Marshall and a player on another team caused them to fall apart. The Crew were not trading Marshall, but apparently the loss of a defender made trading a defender (Hejduk?) impossible. Don't know who the other injury was that stopped the other trade (Beckham?).

Mark indicated that some moves may still be made but he could not comment on specifics. Kind of like his comment before Guille was signed. He also said that a DP is a top priority and that he will challenge ownership to say "no" to a DP signing. I believe him. As I have felt all along, Columbus is not a priority for HSG and will not get the investment that Dallas get. We need new ownership more than anything else.

I'd just like to say that everyone that I disagreed with last week were absolutly spot on and I was completely wrong. This team is shit, Sigi and McCullers are shit, and no hoping and waiting for consistant underperformers to perform is ever going to change that. ******** these people.

I'd also like to say to Crewnut that you were 150% correct in just about everything you've said about 103. The whole thing is a flawed concept because trying to bring passion to lifeless passionless people will never work. I didn't fully realize this until I was under the bleachers singing my ass off, while the zombies just watched and took pictures of us.

    Re: Crew-Fire in-game [R]

I am sick of this team. I am tired of the same old crap they put on field year after year. Thomas needs to be sent off permanently. Moreno needs to warm the bench. If the front office is unwilling to shell out the dough to get players that want, desire, and have the talent to be on the CCS field, then why should I shell out my hard earned money for season tickets year after year. MLS refs are a joke. How come we get the ref who has 8 games under his belt and 2 of them being at CCS? Even the commentators said we were getting no calls our way and chuckled with some of the calls Chicago got.
We had a great July but other than that... there was nothing great about this season... once again!!!
Heck... we have alot of things in common with Michigan football. A season wasted from just two games in September, a team that has no passion and drive to win a game and two coaches that are going to be looking for new jobs.

    Re: Crew-Fire in-game [R]

I don't think it is fair to question the team's desire. Most of the team worked hard the entire match. Even after Wanchope's dubious goal (He looked offside to me) they tried to salvage the one meaningless point that was left to be won. The obvious fact is that the Crew are a team of sub-par talent that does just enough to stay in games and in the playoff race. That comes only from hard work. (BTW, Edson Buddle and Kyle Martino have scored for LA in the last ten minutes)

I agree about Thomas though. For someone who hasn't contributed a thing all year he looked lazy during stretches and impatient with his teammates at times. He should play a full season before thinking he has the right to be frustrated with his teammates.

It only makes it worse that I'm watching the Gals play GOOD soccer and both Buddle and Martino have scored.

Umm, BTW, I'd rather not hear another word FROM McCullers,... I'd rather READ a dispatch article that he's given HSG an ultimatum. And if there is ANY change in the coaching staff at all, I want a complete change, no loyalty hold-overs PERIOD!!!!!

Jesus - I got kicked in the junk twice tonight.

First the Crew lose and then I go out to my car in the southwest area of the VIP parking lot where...

Someone with a white SUV (I assume due to the white paint and what the HP said about the damage had to occur from a large SUV) decided it would be fun to play bumper car with the whole back right side of my car and then drive off. So if any of the illustrious BS posters happened to see someone back in to and totally f*uck up the entire passenger side of my silver VW Jetta, could you drop me a line so I can go kick them in the nuts and then get money from their insurance company?

I am going to say this once but thats it. What the f^%$#@! Herron and Rogers did not even make the bench for this one? What the hell is Sigi thinking? Rogers had a great U-20 World Cup against tough international competition after starting and playing well for three consecutive games with the Crew. He comes back brimming with confidence and then rots on the bench and then does not even make the bench for this one Sorry but that does not make sense when you are searching for something, anything to spark this team and get them going. Herron-MVP last year for his team and doesn't make the bench or play in probably the most critical game of the year. I bet Rogers wishes he was back in Holland and Herron wishes he was anywhere but here. I need to puke.

Damn, hopefully justice prevails. Well, their conscious/karma will catch up to them. It was just a bad night to be a Crew supporter overall even for those us that watched errr saved our gas money from the comfort of our homes. Inconsistent officiating, injuries, another loss, Sigi, the front office, management, no goals, no skills, soaked supporters watching a loss, Fire supporters with scoreboard in our own house, ex-Crew scrubs scoring goals, albeit somewhat helping whatever playoff hopes Columbus has, that ogre Nate Jaqua scoring a hat-trick, and lastly, having to hear the LA Max Bretos dare utter a horrible thing, Vagenas to Columbus because of Sigi.
