Anyone watching the Rugby World Cup? Argentina plays against hosts France today. Im not quite shure when the US plays, I know they are in Englands group which is not an easy game.
I live in Wales, its physically impossible not to. Then again, at least generally the coverage is pretty good rather than the "blah blah Champions INGERLAND Wilkinson blah blah" type of stuff. Group A is England, South Africa, Samoa, Tonga and the USA - you haven't got a chance of getting through that, sorry. England vs. USA is Saturday afternoon at 4 or 5 I think, so probably at a guess 11ish over there?
Im rooting for Argentina cuz its the only spanish speaking team and because Mexico doesent have a rugby team. I also like Japan
Rooting for the US, but we are going to get destroyed by England today. It's at the same time as the Israel v England qualifiers so I won't be watching it unfortunately (or fortunately since we will lose).
We have a rugby team again, now that rugby 7s is included in the Panamerican games. I also heard rugby might be included in the Olympics in the near future. I dont know why rugby is not in the olympics its way more popular than baseball and basball was.
What do you mean "isn't doing too good", didn't look too bad to me, other than the foregone conclusion of the result, although admittedly I didn't see that much of the first half because I was watching the football mostly and didn't get my second TV tuned in properly until half time, but I thought they did rather well, although admittedly they did improve in the second half and England were woeful. Lost by enough to stop it being a nailbiter, but played well and went down fighting.
England are the defending World Cup winners, and we are well...us. The U.S. is not a rugby world power, simple as that. I think from our group though, we could come away with wins against Samoa and Tonga, but we'd have to play well. A loss to England is nothing to be ashamed of.
The US could be a big rugbe world power if it would convince some of the American football to play rugby. Maybe those who dont make it to the NFL? I think some would do pretty good.
I'm proud of our guys; they played hard. I'm glad I decided to watch them instead of England vs Israel. Let's hope we can do better than the one World Cup win we managed in 2003. To do so, we have to beat Tonga and Samoa, and I think we'll be lucky to beat one of the two.
Actually USA outperformed expectations whereas England looked dismal for defnding champions. The result was always a foregone conclusion though. In international rugby there are far less major upsets than in international football (soccer), though they do happen. But never in the history of international rugby has there been an upset on the same scale as if USA beat England today. That's not to do down USA, they can feel pleased with their performance, it's good to see that these teams who in the past would of just turned up to be walloped improving.
