As you know, I don't like using BS posts for material better left to PM or other more appropriate communication.

No problem viehlo. This way I know you are genuine and not playing the role.

Like I said earlier, buy me a beer at the Mezz and I'll tell you all you need to know about running a team on a shoestring budget.

Now back to the substantive discussion...

You still haven't explained how you cover all the expenses that I listed above (i.e., three full time coaches, travel costs (incl. transportation, lodging, meals), recruiting costs (incl. coaches' travel costs), allocated costs of support services, and allocated scholarships).

You're a smart as a tack lawyer, you draw up some figures and I'll post for you if your figures are off base or not.

According to last year's attendance figures released by the NCAA... that means there are about a dozen mens and womens programs combined in the whole country that would be profitable.

You posted a claim that a specific attendance number would turn a profit for an NCAA D1 soccer team. I asked you how you know that would be the case. You responded that you just know because you've done it. I asked for clarification about whether you've in fact done it. You acknowledged that you haven't and offered to "scribble out" all of the "cost and revenue streams." I asked you to go ahead and "scribble out" all of the "cost and revenue streams" here. Your response did not do so, and while you imply that you already know all the revenue and cost figures for an NCAA D1 soccer program, you still haven't answered my original question.

Whew, after all that I'd never guess you were a lawyer dude.

No, you played the condescending role by asking me if I had ever been a freakin' AD of a university having full knowledge that I never have been one.
This is reason A that I'm not gonna take any more time from my workday on a Friday to draw it out for you dude. You've got questions and I've got answers but you will find out in life viehlo that your can and will attract more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Again, if you've got the time and want to know all the ins and outs of how to run an upstart NCAA men's soccer program I will be a pal and actually take my time to sit down with you at the Mezz. Just buy me a round or two and it's cool.

Other than that quit playin' the role.

    Again, personal sentiments belong elsewhere.

My questions and comments in this exchange have focused on a substantive topic discussed in this thread. You repeated comments that you made earlier in this exchange. I don't think it's necessary to repeat my responses to those comments.

That seems to be reasonable for NCAA Div-1.

Now for schools like Midwestern St. in Div-2 and below where there is the chance of no gridiron to dominate the Athletic Program. There is the need to adjust attendance with lower costs and at the Div-3 level no scholoarships are offered yet there is still a quality run NCAA men's or women's soccer program.

NAIA schools would also require a much lower budget as the overhead also drops from scholarship funds and traveling costs. Most D-2 and NAIA schools have a bus and do not fly all around the nation like UCLA, A&M and the Lady Tar Heels get to do. That can have a significant effect on operating costs.

No shit?!?....really? You mean....oh like our Texian Army watering hole THE MEZZ. Like exactly where we would be best to carry this discussion on funding for an upstart NCAA soccer program. That concept sounds familiar, I know I have suggested it a few times dude.

    No offense ever taken here.

Say hi to Lucy. I understand that she was very short, so you may want to tell her about those four foot palm trees. :D

Coach G's camp is $600 a person but he also has a high trainer-to-camper ratio and some of the folks involved are pretty high level.

The cool thing -- at least for girls -- is that his players participate too. The kids love the players and listen to everything they say about training, nutrition, warming up, etc.

The Lady Cougars kicked off their season rather slowly against Sam Houston State. The first half saw lots of miscues on passes from the Cougars until the 40th minute when things started to kick off. FR Striker Islara Rodriguez picked up a loose ball in the box from a corner kick and hesitated a second too long before sending a blazing shot right at Freshman Keeper Jenny Pence.

Four minutes later, FR RW Crystal Trevino drove the ball down the right wing and sent a beautiful cross just off the goal line to FR Striker Lauri Byrne. Byrne tapped it towards the near post but Pence was able to recover it.

In the 55th minute, FR CAM Jessica Rathweg takes a corner for the Cougars on the right and places it beautifully, but FR Midfielder Izzy Babb, left open in the box, wasn't able to control the ball and put it in. Instead, the Bearkats cleared the ball away.

The lone goal in the game came in the 59th minute when SO Striker Nikki Echeverria fed a great pass to Rathweq, who blew by two defenders to catch the pass and slid it past the keeper.

The Cougars kept up the pressure after the goal, earning 3 more corner kicks, all beautifully placed by Rathweq. In the 69th minute, Rathweq takes a free kick from about 25 yards away and lands on Rodriguez who misses an easy shot.

The best chance for the Bearkats to score came late in the 83rd minute. A great build-up was wasted as the Bearkats sent two shots at Junior Keeper Shelby Scott, but both shots hit the defensive line before Scott could smother them. In the 87th minute, a long shot from 20 yards out nearly went over Scott for the equalizer, but it drifted bare inches over the crossbar.

The win gives rookie coach Susan Bush her first win of her career at UH. The loss drops the Bearkats to 0-3 (0-0 Conference)

The Cougars will now travel to Lafayette to take on Louisiana Lafayette on Sunday at 1 p.m.

FYI, if you want to watch some live stats of the game...

Congrats for the Coogs, and it sound like it wasn't a terrible result for the Bearkats (I went to grad school there... so I root for SHSU also) either considering how new their program is and in games like this just a couple of years ago they'd get thrashed 8-0 and be outshot 30-2. I think the Bearkats first season as an NCAA team was 2004... I remember going to one of their first games... they played at Pritchett Field; an old stone stadium (WPA project from the 30s I believe) and actually a pretty nice place to watch a game from. That first year they didn't charge anything for admission... so you could take the whole family for free.

That's great to hear. I'll definitely swing by the RTSS tomorrow for a bit, so it'll be cool to see Super Dynamo on the PA!

Also, Rice 1 - 0 TCU in double OT (yes, they have OT in NCAA soccer). That was a very tough loss for TCU.
