Everywhere and Nowhere.....I'm the wind, baby.
Having sworn off stadium threads, I haven't kept up as much, but doesn't it seem like Philadelphia and St Louis are really coming along without much local opposition to the proposed SSSs?

Oh, and surely I'm not the only one who read this in the Philly article:

"The short story here is that this is the beginning of a process ...," said Donald P. Garber... .

    and thought, who?

    ...the league's commissioner.

    Ohhhh, Don.

I've been keeping up more, because this is becoming an intense competition.

All three of Seattle, St. Louis and Philadelphia seem likely to get a team.

At this point, I'd really hate to see *any* of them kept out.

I'd like to see Philly in because of market size and one more east coast rival between Red Bull and United.

I'd like to see Seattle in because of Sounders history, I like the city, and spreading the MLS footprint.

I'd like to see St. Louis in because of soccer history, the number of St. Louis players in MLS, and solidifying the MLS footprint in the middle of the country giving KC a closer rival.

Of the three, the only one that I can come up with any (non-stadium -- see many threads in the Seattle forum for that endless discussion) argument against is Seattle. USL-1 plays an important role in soccer in the US, and while the league has been stable, losing the Sounders could make USL-1 just a little less viable. St. Louis only has a PDL team and Philly doesn't at all. Expanding there does no harm to USL-1.

Seattle and Portland have such a good rivalry, it would be sad to see one enter without the other.

Sorry, VioletCrown, but when I said 'without opposition', I meant 'without local opposition to building a SSS'. (In fact, I've edited my original post to make that clearer.)

Although, I do agree with you here - I'd hate to see any of the three left out. And yes, any opinion on Seattle/MLS/Qwest/SSS is better left for other threads.

Agreed. But I believe in the Northwest Domino Effect. Once one gets in, it puts a lot of pressure on the others to move up.

Trust me, my source is as good as any Blogs out there. Sorry but Milwaukee is a long shot at this point.A few might not agree with me, but what can I say.

You are absolutely right. Wilt has said so much himself. I currently live in Milwaukee and the last gasp effort, I can guarantee you, will never pass. Wilt and others have this idea to play the games on the grass inside Milwaukee's racetrack, the Milwaukee Mile, and bringing in movable stands to "build" the stadium for each game. Although the renditions make it look somewhat decent, there is no way this will compete with actual SSS in St. Louis and Philly.

What if they had a race and a soccer game going at the same time? That might be fun to watch.

Yeah, except the horses would limit the SSS in the infield's capacity to 12,500 for a cup match.
