Charity Date Auction to Benefit D.C.’s Children Living with AIDS

Who says money can’t buy you love? At 7pm on Sept. 12, Washington’s brightest beauties and bucks will strut their stuff on the auction block at Eighteenth & Red—all for a good cause.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care, Inc., a fully functioning independent center that provides therapeutic, educational, social and recreational activity programs to area children living with HIV/AIDS.

Owners of the host bar, Eighteenth & Red, are offering a free drink with each ($20-advance) ticket purchase. Tickets are on sale now at www.charitydateauction.com, and are also available at the door on the evening of the event ($25 at the door).

Five fine fellas and five gorgeous gals will “work it” to their self-selected theme song as the crowd bids on their packages. A simultaneous silent auction of 10 sexy dates will don glow necklaces and mingle among the droolers in the crowd.

Charity date packages range from a champagne-filled shopping indulgence at a local boutique to a good ‘ole dinner and dancing line up, Western style. With donations from Neiman Marcus to Michel Richard's Citronelle’s “In the Kitchen with Michel Richard” cooking lesson for two, no winning bidder will be disappointed. Minimum bids start at $25-50.

    WHEN: Wednesday, September 12, 2007, 7-10pm
WHERE: Eighteenth & Red, 2436 18th St. N.W., Washington, D.C. (located on 18th St., between Columbia and Belmont Rds., N.W.) Closest metro stop: Dupont Circle or Adams Morgan

Somebody asked me why this was on the SE board or what it had to do with DC United.

The simple answer beyond it being a great charity event is that the outreach committee has donated two match tickets in the Aerie and tailgate passes to the silent auction.

    So bid wildly!

Obviously if you already have match tickets, etc. you are more than welcome to bid on one of the hunk or hunkesses :D

Or if you're really flush with cash try this:

I saw that trip to Vegas (you know it was the first thing I saw) but it doesn't look like hotel, limo or any shows are included (although I guess if you can afford a private jet for 8 you probably have a condo at the MGM Residences).

Hey everyone! I am a proud supporter of DC United and I'm also helping to organize the charity fundraiser featured on this thread! Thanks again so much for your generous donation!

Our auction should be pretty awesome and will raise money for a truly worthy organization that provides support for the District's children infected/affected by AIDS.

We have some amazing silent auction items, including a Maine getaway, http://www.charitydateauction.com/Maine.jpg, which will be raffled off on September 12.

Thanks again, and if anyone has any questions about the fundraiser, feel free to contact charitydatesforacause@gmail.com. It will be a blast!

    :)

Thanks cmk49 - it looks like you have truly put together a great group of prizes!

Here is just one of the eligible "fabulous singles" that you can join if you bid high enough (just click on the pic for more detailed bio and prize details)...

Sounds like she would fit right in with this crowd ;)

Fortunately, she doesn't troll these boards :p

However, if she did find out... I would soon be bidding big time on this little package to make amends, like this weekend romantic getaway in Maine:

When it comes to lodging in Rockland, LimeRock Inn's sumptuous and hearty country inn breakfasts, whirlpool or European soaking tubs, private fireplaces, and king beds combine the most luxurious amenities for the perfect romantic getaway. For those who'd rather not go unplugged, the entire Inn is WiFi enabled. In addition, a guest computer complete with free, high-speed internet service is available at all times along with complimentary refreshments in the guest pantry.

Both of us could be happy - she would get the serenity of the Maine Coast and I could still be plugged into all the latest on BigSoccer :D

I can personally attest that Jill screamed, jumped, clapped, and drank her way through the 8/9 Beckham game in a manner that would have made any Screaming Eagle proud, especially once it started pouring! Her date is two tickets to a Redskins game along with a tailgate bus party courtesy of Crystal City Sports Pub. Come on out to our event next week on Wednesday, September 12th at 18th and Red and bid high! :D

Thanks to so many people including the Screaming Eagles, our event was an incredible success! This past Wednesday night, we made a grand total of $15,622!!!! To put this into perspective, back in April when we started this whole crazy journey, we were hoping to make at the most $5,000. But through the generosity of so many, we far surpassed our hopes and expectations.

The SE tix plus tailgate passes had a retail value of $60, it sold at silent auction for $110!!! Thanks again, a video slideshow of the event will be featured on our website soon at www.charitydateauction.com.
