Ok, I'm pretty new here so if this old news to anyone be gentle with me.

Did you realize that no team has ever manage to defend the Shield in the next season after winning it?

What's also interesting is that many Supporter's Shield winners have collapsed and missed the playoffs the next year rather than even getting close to winning again.

Dangit...what's with people starting all the bad juju threads recently?

we're due for our end of season drop, slump into the playoffs and take an early exit!

...he said as he walked underneath a ladder that was propped up in his hallway in order to get to his umbrella stand, where he spent several minutes opening each of his umbrellas - just to see which one was his favorite - until one of the umbrellas knocked his mirror off the wall and broke it, at which point he ventured out into the street, nearly tripping on the jet-black cat that sprinted across his path..."To the theater I shall go!" he declared, and when he arrived at the theater, he made his way backstage to see his old pal, master thespian Nigel Higgenbottom..."Good luck, Nigel! I'm sure you'll be even better than you were in that production of MacBeth!"

I was careful not to make any specific reference to DCU, just a general comment.;)

We set a lot of firsts in this league and this should be another. Somebody tell TS to set a new goal. No way we are limping into the playoffs this year. This team is on a tear and while we may lose a game before the end of the season, we will finish the season out strong. Damn it! :D

Getting away from the bad luck discussion, I noticed something recently and want some clarification if anyone knows.

DC is now shown as having won the Supporter's Shield in 1997, but from my recollection, the SS wasn't even invented until 1999. Is that correct? Were we awarded it retroactively? Am I totally off base? Can Rongen claim the Supporter's Shield from 1996?

Yes he can. The SS was retroactive. Next time you have a chance, take a look at the engraving on the base.

Doesn't anyone believe in self determination anymore? What about predetermined destiny? Why all the supersticious paranoia?

Personally I'm leaning towards karmic justice. If we deserve it, we will win it.

Ah yes, I knew I could count on you. Matt.

However, don't you ever sleep? I know I haven't worked off my buzz yet from the college football, technical difficulties, and wynalda bashing evening yet. But you? I'd have figured you for bed an hour ago.

Interestingly, that was added last night, by a Cox Cable customer here in the DC area.

Just goes to shpw you that not all Cox customers are complete idiots. ;)

DC is also the only team to have won the SS three times.

And you can die while you sleep, for those multi-taskers out there.

    So it's a win-win, really.
