For those who missed this: Revs Add Gambian U-20 Member Abdoulie Mansally Revs add second member of Gambia's Under-20 World Cup team By Revolutionsoccer.net, 9/6/07 http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/news/index.cfm?ac=latestnewsdetail&pid=27521&pcid=115 OPINION: Trade Deadline Still An Option By Emlyn Lewis, Soccer New England September 6, 2007 http://www.soccernewengland.com/articles/view_article.php?id=2778
Interesting piece. I personally would add Jeff Laurentowicz to the list of the "untradeables". For the money, I don't know if there's a better, smarter, tougher, more consistent DM/holding mid in the league. But I think we know that none of this (tradewise) is really going to happen - nor probably should it. Any far-reaching changes in the composition of the team should have happened by now. As far as player acquisitions are concerned, I think we're solidly in "wait till next year" territory. This team will have to run the final stretch with the horses they've got. And where does that unused cap money go again? Hmmmmmm...
Here I go thinking I'm the one with the radical ideas Trading Shalrie would be a great move for depth, but this shouldn't even be brought up. We should have/still can pay him what he's worth.
Who is emlyn lewis? In my opinion, ridiculous topic excluded, it was a poorly written piece. Even some typos! Who are these people and why are they in charge of covering our revs?
What about this guy??? Former MVP eyes Red Bulls return Posted: Friday September 07, 2007 04:06AM ET Former Major League Soccer MVP and Red Bulls standout Amado Guevara wants to come back to MLS and specifically the Red Bulls. Guevara told El Diario that he wants to come back to the Red Bulls to fulfill the promises he made to fans here. That he wants back shouldn't really be a surprise. The question is whether there is any realistic chance that the Red Bulls would want him back ************************************ Does this really deserve it's own thread? Would we want him? I think I've said no in the past due to his disruptiveness, but do you think he may have been humbled a bit?
Interesting idea, but playing to strength, we should be giving cash rather than quality. The question is: who would we want that another team would be willing to give up? I don't see Beckerman, Klein, etc. going anywhere. He is a longtime Rev fan, journalist, and a frequent contributor to this board.
No thank you. The last thing the Revolution need at this point is a lazy, selfish, mercurial player with a reputation for being a locker room cancer.
When aren't we? A really good guy in all honesty. And he writes like he sees it. I might not always agree with him, but he is a damn good writer.
I think he's a sheep shagger. Just reading his stuff makes me feel as though I've caught syphillis. It pains me to share a last name with him.
Great, now I feel dirty for just saying nice things about him. And on that note, I'm heading to bed. Home tomorrow .... YAY!
I suspect Twellman and Noonan might feel differently, and there is some reason to believe his skill set might help us win an MLS cup, but I would agree he would likely wear out his welcome soon thereafter. Still, I could stand him as a short term signing, then see unloading him over the winter.
