And the rest is worth reading too. Not to defend hopefully soon to be former Sen. Craig, but is what he did worse than the above? I honestly don't think so.
Of course I do, but it's like saying Craig's team gave up 11 goals to someone instead of 10. It's worse, but not by much. What Craig did, while not good, didn't affect my life at all. The stuff mentioned in the blog post (and Volokh Conspiracy is an excellent blog) does.
The real crime here isnt looking for a little rumpsocket. The issue is the organized persecution of a despised minority in order to manipulate those to whom despising that minority is a priority into voting against their own economic interests, all the while being a member of that minority. It illuminates the hypocritical nature of the conservative movement in general. They dont believe their own rhetoric but impose it anyway. They hide their agenda. Those who behave in such a way must be purged like Keira Knightley's supper. BTW, Alice, youre right about Barbara, but we loved her for that cute little caboose.
As long as whatever they are doing is legal, I don't care if Senators or the Presidents are doing threesomes nightly and foursomes on weekends. In fact, if I hear news about McCain's recent sexual escapades, I might just vote for him, b/c that would be an excellent indication of his health status.
You live in America and you have to ask this question? Of course what he did was worse. We would willingly and gladly trade all manner of corruption and oppressiveness if it meant protection from teh gays.
Whatever happened in that rest room, no one wound up dead. As opposed to the drunken escapades of Teddy Kennedy at Chappaquidick many years ago.
Or when Bill Clinton had Ron Brown killed. I mean, being speculative like this has as much place as comparing a non-elected person's honest car accident at age 17 to a standing US Senator's drunken murder of a girl.
It shouldn't matter, really, if a senator gets it in the ass in a public restroom, but in the real world it does matter. Because, if you're going to exploit anti-gay feelings in order to win elections, then it's a double edge sword. It will bite you in the ass when you yourself turn out to be gay.
Craig was a grand slam of Republican "values." Cruising for blumpkins in airport bathrooms while opposing gay marriage and rubber stamping Bushco's agenda to the detriment of all Americans. He sucked in so many ways.
If you know about the circumstances of the car crash, I don't know how you can think it was anything but premeditated murder. You brought it into play when you started talking about Kennedy. Of course what Larry Craig did doesn't compare to genocide of thousands of people, but that doesn't mean that we can talk about nothing else except the genocide of thousands of people. Larry Craig is still a butt pirate who happens to be not very good good at hiding his eye patch and parrot, and I'm not going to stop commenting on him and the horrible political party that creates sad hypocrites like him no matter what else is happening because it is still worthy of comment in and of itself.
Then give me a link to someplace other than to democratic underground or moveon.org that proves this or that she was drunk. All I see in searches is a bunch of unsubstantiated ramblings on far left liberal blogs and message boards. I don't remember this even being much of an issue during either election. If there was a shred of truth to it, you know every news outlet in th world would have broadcast that non-stop.
