Where is he? I'm a Dynamo fan and was not happy with the trade we made with you guys for Nate Jaqua. Why hasn't Kelly Gray been playing for you guys? If I was Yallop I would be starting him on the D line right away. Is he injured??

Yeah i wasn't happy about the trade either, but for another reason. Jacqua
scored within the opening minute for us on Father's day this year. I'll never forget it. But he took a lot of stick around these parts, and most were happy to see him go.

As far as Kelly Gray, he's just another casualty of the Galaxy's poor season. Since he isn't famous, or a US international, everyone here has turned against him. Sorry i know that isn't what you want to here, but most LA fans are fickle (I'm from LA). As soon as our teams start losing, we start looking for scapegoats. Gray just happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

So you're not happy with Nate? I'm sorry we also were not happy with him.

R u kidding!!! Grey played terribly for us. He gave the ball away consistently and passed to phantom teammates. I don't care if he played for the US or the Brazilian national team. If being fickle means you want good players instead of the lousy ones we have, then I am #1 FICKLE.

He's out with a calf injury.

Fwiw, he was getting a lot of playing time at DMid. Not sure where we see him in the long run. Maybe just as a utility player.

He has had a calf injury that has been slow in healing... I actually like him and think he is a nice compliment to the midfield when he is healthy and especially once the team actually gets some training in (haven't had much since the trade...mostly just playing games and being injured).
It seemed that Beckham thinks highly of Kelly Gray...or at least what he said on his David Beckham Soccer USA show on FSC was very positive... ;)

Yes but Beckham says the same thing about EVERY teammate on that show. "He's one of the guys I've been really impressed by since I started playing here...blah blah blah..."

Rag on him all you want, but a healthy Kelly Gray could have kept Pete Vagenas on the sub's bench the past couple of weeks...

It's no surprise that Gray and the rest of the team had no chemistry in the beginning. That's the name of the game this season.

I thought he played well, and the rest of the team sucked ass. As proof, I submit to you that we suck more without him than with him.

Hahahah, Yeah you're right his longs balls were way off the mark but lets not get carried away. It's been a bad year all around. We've been let down by everyone this year at least once (Donovan and Martino missing crucial penalty kicks). Grey should probably be traded, but I've noticed a disturbing trend here. Good players come to LA and start sucking. Bad players leave LA and they rip us apart when we see them again.

Dude i know what you mean about wanting good players. This is LA. People won't stand losing here. But cutting off a toe on a leg that needs to be amputated isn't the solution.

Yeah, I mean, the only reason and I mean ONLY reason Houston traded him was because he never had an everyday job in our system and we wanted to do him a favor because we liked him. He so versitile, he could fill in for anyone on your backline or play mid. In hign n sight, I could see him moving back to San Jose after this season since I don't think the Galaxy will protect him for the expansion draft, I know he would love that becuase hes from nearby Palo Alto.

Grey is actually from San Jose, went to Leigh High School in San Jose. He was extremely happy to be traded to San Jose from Chicago in 2005, and was probably one of the most disappointed about the move to Houston.

With the Quakes he kind of started out with a bang (scored a goal in his first game with the Quakes). Then I think he played just sort of OK. I also think that there's a good chance he would be left unprotected in the expansion draft and San Jose might pick him up because he's a decent versatile player and a local kid.

Don't forget that Paul Bravo, our new "Technical Director," coached Kelly in club soccer. Paul thinks highly of Kelly and his potential. His versatility becomes extremely important to a team that has such a thin roster as LAG, and I guess I would like to see him for more than three or four games before I consign him to the same scrap heap that we used to discard Ngwenya (7 goals), Finley (6 goals) and a bunch of other very useful players. Its exactly this kind of thinking ("He played badly for two games so dump him") that leads to the kind of circus upheaval we have been suffering through. I swear, some fans make Lalas look like a patient man.

I actually like Kelly Gray quite a bit, and think it's a bad deal for us that he's been hurt. I don't agree that everyone dislikes him.

We got Gray to play with Becks in central midfield. If Beckham is to play in central midfield you need a Kelly Gray type (tough tackling ball winner) next to him so Becks can concentrate on his passing and not have to tackle so often. But Gray got hurt and the pairing never materialized. The next best option for this role once Gray was hurt is Harmse who played the role fairly well but Harmse has less experience than Gray.

I never thought of Gray as a tough tackling ball winner, but I really haven't seen him play d-mid. With the Quakes and Houston he played mostly right back. He's kind of a funny player in that he's pretty good at a lot of different things, but doesn't seem to excel at any particular position. He's got good height, wins a lot of headers, and decent speed, but he's not a particularly great defender. He's got pretty good offensive skills, but probably not good enough to be a good forward, although he's played there before. He's probably OK as a midfielder, as his ball skills and passing are OK, though not great. If I had to pick a position for him I guess I'd put him at outside mid.

Give him a little bit more playing times. He's not a lazy player(that I hate)
He has been playing hard he needs to put zip codes into his passes.
But Buddle he loves to walk and wait for the ball..waste!

I was not a fan of the trade but after watching him play he is one of the players I would like to keep. he is a decent starter, his size gives him presence and he is better offensively then Pete. But I see him as a utility player. I hope he recovers quickly from his injury
