Because reality is no fun and I love talking about hypotethical situations that have absolutely no relevance...which team in the league would you support if you didn't support your team, and why?

I'd probably go with Chicago, because I support Chicago in all other sports, since I lived there as a child (moved away before MLS existed). Another option might be Houston...I'm spoiled by being part of Barra Brava, and Houston fans seem to be pretty hardcore and passionate too, and Robertson stadium has an "RFK" feel to it...old rickety stadium yet great atmosphere.

Mods, please don't place this in the graveyard that is "MLS: Fans".

I'd go with DC United. When the league started I lived in South Carolina and I liked DC United. I didn't follow the league much after the first season and when I picked it up again many many years later I had moved back to LA (where I'm originally from) and put all my heart into the Galaxy.

Probably Chicago because they're the closest to where I live, and they have some of the loudest supporters.

I declared my support for the Galaxy when Beckham joined but after them leaving Beckhams career in tatters and all of their losses i have dumped them and taken them of my teams to the left, they suck.:(

Well, as a Kansas City fan I had to think about this when we were facing the possibility of our team leaving. Thank god, OnGoal came to the rescue.

But, I would probably choose Houston. The reasons are they were new and I have nothing against them yet. They have a great core of players and are very fun to watch. I like their name and colors as well. I just couldnt bring myself to root for any other team that has a history in the league.

    The Revs.

First you elminate the obvious non-contenders (FSL, LA, Dallas, Chivas, DC, RBNY).

Then you eliminate the teams that don't interest me in the least (Columbus, Kansas City).

That leaves Houston, Toronto, Chicago, and New England.

Houston beat us in the playoffs last year, so they're out (Plus orange? yuck).

Toronto is too new for me to be real interesting, cross them off.

Down to Chicago and New England.

The New England fans were fun to stand with during MLS Cup last year, plus I have an interest in early American history, so they win.

Club Vegas. Because I want to start fresh with a brand new expansion team and I don't want to pick one that is already about to happen. I want to start putting my time and energy into it before things become clear. I want to go from ground zero all the way to fruition. And then I want to start a supporters club. And also I really want a team in Vegas.

I'm guessing the 85 is a reference to your birth-year, however I suppose it could also be your IQ.

Operating under the assumption that it's your year of birth, that makes you 22.
What kind of "adult" changes allegiances like a 9 year old girl? Far be it from me to tell you to continue supporting the trainwreck that is the Galaxy, but it's also not their fault that Beckham's "Career is in Tatters".

That blame lays with Real Madrid and the English National Team, who both played him through injuries earlier in the year. If you think either of them had his best interests at heart, than perhaps your IQ is even lower than 85. Some of the blame also rests with fan-boys like you, who's screeching at every Beck's appearance further fed into the Media Shit-storm.

Which is sort of besides the point, since his career is not in tatters. Even if he had stayed in Europe, he wouldn't be part of England's plans for 2010. Not like they'll win anything worth mentioning again.

They weren't exactly winning when he started "Supporting" the Galaxy. Just another Beck's fan-boy...

Well, Im not sure this is even a legit question. If I didnt support D.C. United, I probably wouldnt support any team. I am a D.C. Native, and I support my home teams. I suppose if D.C. Did not have an MLS club, I wouldnt support MLS much, if at all, since there would be no way for me to go to matches. So I guess my answer would be No, and NONE.

Now, were I to relocate to an MLS city, I would support that club by going to matches sure, however, I would remain a Black and Red supporter through and through, for my entire life, no matter where I am.

I used to support the Quakes because I live in the Bay Area and i believe in supporting your home town team, but when my true home town team made a team in LA I had to support my Chivas. This doesent mean i wont go to every Quakes games possible unless it conflicts with my Chivas.:D

I would support a colossal asteroid hitting every other stadium in the league.

I probably wouldn't know there's MLS much like I didn't know while I had club in city :D but if I did it would be Chicago due to support, unless Philly got a team (due to proximity)

NY and RSL. I was fortunate enough to have a hearing out in Salt Lake back in late February/early March, and was able to see the city for the first time. For some strange reason I loved the place, which has caused me to root for their team in the Western Conference all year. That's exactly the same reason why I follow Barcelona. Visited in 2002, and fell in love with the city and stadium (took a tour of the Nous Camp). They've been my European team ever since. As for NY ........ well, I'm a born and bred NY'er. 'Nuff said.

Well, I was going to say Chicago, because I went to college in Chicago and got married in Chicago. So I love the city of Chicago.

But in '96 when the league started, there was no Chicago team. So, if LA hadn't started a team, the closest MLS team would have been San Jose. And my best friend lives in San Jose....

    Ugh. Whew.

Thank God LA started a team or else I might have ended up a Smurf.

I would definitely support the LA Galaxy. Primarily because they have Beckham who is the best player in the universe, and the best looking person on earth. The way he curves that ball, the touch, the skill, its just out of this world. Then there are also other stars, like Landon Donovan, who is the best American player EVER produced. You also have the best goalkeeper in the league, Joe Cannon. No one can forget Abel Xavier, the hair itself deserves some attention. And what about a standout like Kyle Martino! Then there are other latin american standouts like Carlos Pavon, this guy knows how to head the ball. And they also have Cobi, well at least for a little while, and I used to love his show on MTV. Speaking of veterans, another reason would be Alexi Lalas. The man has great vision for creating a super club and getting all the best players in MLS together, on one team. And no matter what you all say, you know you want the old Lalas back when he had had long goat beard, played a guitar and got stoned 6 times a day. There's nothing wrong with doing a little weed, even if its laced with horse tranquilizer. If you still don't see my point, then look at the LA fans. You have Bob Barker's prodigy in Drew Carey, Beckham's BFF Tom Cruise, and also super hottie Jennifer Lopez. She's got plenty of rockz, but she's still the same Jenny from the block, just like you and I. So if I wasn't a RBNY fan, I would definitely be a fan of the Galaxy.

    Probably New England.

I was born in Rhode Island, and my father's side of the family all lives there. I was raised (in this order) a Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics fan.

I chose the Galaxy in 2002 because I finally accepted that I was staying in LA, and that I needed to support a local team. As if to congratulate me for my choice, LA beat NE in the MLS Cup final. Go fig.

Oddly enough, I really started supported LA right before I moved to SF for grad school.

Definitely wouldn't give two shits about MLS.

Or soccer in general, for that matter.

I was a Metrostars fan since '96 but after the Red Bull thing I couldn't care less about them...or the MLS or any other league to be honest.I just follow the U.S. National Team. They were always much more important to me than the Metros anyway...

I forgot my reasoning here, which is basically that I have nothing against any of those teams/cities.

    LA: hell no
LA Jr: regular no, plus I hate the original Chivas
    Dallas: it's Texas
Houston: it's Texas with a scoop of treason
Salt Lake: eh, not feelin' it...
Colorado: they wear Avalanche maroon, so no
DC: have to hate success by default
NY: have to hate New York by default (as a sports fan only)
NE: I could go either way here, but I'll go with "no"
Toronto: they already talk like Leafs fans, so no
