Excuse my ignorance, but does MLS always continue when there are International matches as with right now? Just thaty here both the Premiership and the Championship have no matches this coming week because of International call ups. And below that level, I think the ruling is that if a team has 3 or more players called up for Internationals then a match can be postponed until a later date.
Well, hopefully he gets his shooting boots back and starts ripping some more goals. It would be great to have the old DeRo back for the last part of the season, especially the playoffs.
MLS teams have historically operated under very inflexible scheduling constraints. Primarily, teams have had to deal with being tenants (sometimes the third tenant) in stadiums whose schedules they didn't control. There's also the fact that the winters in many markets in North America make drawing a decent crowd for MLS very unlikely during those months. And there's also the consideration that midweek games generally draw more poorly than weekend games. So, you're left with having to schedule a full 30-32 game regular season schedule from about April through about October. It's just very hard to take much time off during that period, given all the other constraints. Now that more MLS teams control scheduling in their own stadiums, you would think that some more flexibility will be possible. But the reality is that those stadiums are really multi-purpose venues, not exclusively soccer stadiums. The MLS schedule still has to work around things like concerts, high school football, X-Games, etc. that the MLS operators also schedule in those stadiums. That's just the economic reality of trying to keep a reasonably high level, professional, first division soccer league in business in the US. Also, just for comparison purposes, the Brazilian national league also runs from about April through about November and has usually only stopped play for the World Cup. They don't usually take weekends off for mere FIFA match days. IIRC, they don't even usually stop for other tournaments, like the Copa America. (I believe I've also seen games in the Mexican league on the same weekend as FIFA match dates, but I may be recalling incorrectly.)

That would have been good for us cause... We wouldn't be dealin with all these freakin' injuries right now That would have been bad for us cause... We wouldn't have seen the emergence of Holden and Ashe, nor the Shut-Out Streak.
I would not be surprised in the least if Canada's entire goal crew comes down with last-minute head injuries and they once again have to turn to cyborg-Onstad for leadership.
