I'm telling you, if he grew the beard (actually it's more of 5 o'clock shadow) Danny would would like this. A crazed Italian, ready to snap at you. Danny's also got that bite to his game and if he's smart he would model it after Gattuso as well. Danny's a little more attack minded than Rino but if he expands on the little edge, he could be our version of Gattuso.

Now that you mention it, he does seem to have raided Tony Montana's wardrobe.

This is pretty sweet! I played basketball for a lowly 3rd division club in Santander when Razov was playing at Ferrol in 2000-2001 and I was hoping that Ante would open the doors for more Americans in Spain.
That's a scrappy club that should be about mid-table, great support, a bit too much rain in the winter on the Northern Coast, but a great opportunity for sure.
The only thing that Danny needs to watch out for (and I know this from experience dude), is the Calimoxto!
    Go Santander!

His MLS lottery appearance goes down as one of the worst league promos ever, so not looking completely despondent is an improvement for him.

To me, Danny looks like Leo DiCaprio during one of his "serious" films.

He looks like someone off the NJGuido website doing their impersonation of an Italian.

Wouldn't a 19-year-old breaking through at any point in his first season for a team in La Liga be a huge accomplishment? One we've never seen the level of in American soccer for that matter?

Seriously, just making the bench for a top flight team at that age is a huge success and a great sign for the future.

Why is it that if an American teen isn't immediately starting for a team like Santander (or Benfica, or ManU, or Hamburg, or PSV, or Hannover, or Heereveen, etc.) we start to question their quality?

A 19-year-old Bradley starting at Heerenveen. An 18-year-old Adu getting 60 minutes in a CL match (not to mention the first match he was available). An 18,19,20,21-year-old Spector getting good minutes at ManU, Charlton, and West Ham. These and many more are no small accomplishments that we seem to never realize or recognize the significance of.

Article up on Santander's website that includes szetela's name. I think the general drift is that he was given his debut in a friendly. Anyone translate maybe?

Link the article next time for faster response.

Essentially says that the club arranged a friendly for this afternoon against CD Cayón to get the new signings some minutes with the team. The game was arranged because of the International dates this week which means La Liga has a break in their schedule.

Link -->Racing Santander Friendly this afternoon

CD Cayon is in the lower levels of Spanish football, I believe the 5th level.

Racing won the match 1-0. The article above must have been from yesterday.

Szetela, with a strong shot from outside the area made the keeper work to stop the shot.

THe goal fro Racing Santander came in the 43rd minute of the second half off a free kick.

It says Szetela and the others mentioned played in the starting 11. Szetela and Mario Ortiz "ran the center of midfield."

"Szetela, with a powerful shot from outside the area in the 34th min., put the goalkeeper Alex is trouble until he managed to clear the ball...."

seriously, he has the possibility to look absolutely dirty. he's way to clean cut in those R.Santander pics. We need some more Nats to have an original look - they all seem to just have short hair and shaved heads nowadays (or bald for landycakes), I wanna see some style.

So, what you're saying here is that you want photos of the US footballers looking dirty. Hmm. This may be the wrong sort of website for that...;)
Still, maybe a little choc cake smooshed into their faces? Would that work for you...
