Kerry Zavagnin is in...Mastro is out.

I guess this pretty much confirms Clark wasn't called in because Bradley wanted to give him more time with his club during the play-off stretch.

Truthfully I can't imagine why some of you didn't get this in the first place...but reason and Bigsoccer don't always go hand in hand.

Especially since Clark was already taken from Houston for the Gold Cup and Copa America. Sure there are other options in MLS besides Zavagnin, but KC isn't playing that day. Simple as that.

KC not playing. Plus, if Bradley called in someone who could challenge for a 2010 spot (Edu, Beckerman, etc), Mikey's might get some competition.

Seriously, I think the first reason is the real one.

Huh? How does it "confirm" that? The article says that Mastro was replaced because he is "recovering from an illness" that forced him out at halftime of the Sunday game against Columbus ......... not because Bradley decided he needed more time with his club during the playoff stretch. If he believed THAT, he wouldn't have called Mastro up in the first place. It's not like he just figured out that KC wasn't playing this weekend and the Rapids were ........ but reading and Bigsoccer don't always go hand in hand.

houston is in the playoffs, colorado is fighting for a spot...so why wasnt mastro left off to help his team?

    guess the "conspiracy" lives on...

its just down to depth being the issue, we have a bunch of guys who deserve to be there and i wholly expect being starters, and players who shouldn't be gracing the side and only are because of scheduling.

I fully expect Feilhaber as Bradley's partner in the middle now.

I sure have a lot of confidence that Bradley, playing as a lone d-mid, can stop Kaka and Ronaldinho!

What a joke Bob Bradley is. We need somebody with a physical presence in that position if there's to be any hope of conceding fewer than three goals. A 20-year old just doesn't cut it unless his name is John Obi Mikel.

Actually physical presence is only good against a aerial player, both are technically gifted which means positioning and anticipation are the key.

    whatever happened to:

    Brian Carroll
    Kyle Beckerman
    Maurice Edu
    Danny Szetela
    Sacha Kljestan
    Ricardo Clark
    Dax McCarty
    Clyde Simms
    Ned Grabavoy
    Nathan Sturgis (injured)
    Richard Mulrooney
    Danny O' Rourke
    Ben Olsen
    Seth Stammler
    Jeff Larentowicz
Michael Parkhurst (move him up to DM if you have to)
    Greg Dalby (now with Charleroi)

all of which i would have prefered over Kerry Zavagnin.

these are guys that should be getting call ups over seitz, mastro, arnaud. seriously, why isnt adu, altidore and szetela not in there. especially adu since he aint playin in benfica. seriously my confidence in bob bradley has started to slip ever since he chose to send a "c" team to the copa and the "a" team to the gold cup. i kinda want us to get our asses handed to us by brazil so that bradley gets fired. that way we can get a european to come in here and start making sum ballsy decisions. but if gulati will keep bradley in there even tho we get whooped then i would rather we win. brazil aint playing their best right now even though they can choose to start playing at any time as it was seen in the copa. hopefully dandy landy can step it up for a game against other than mexico.

OK. You're right. There are 19 players called up and only 5 of them are from MLS:

3 from KC Wiz who are not playing this weekend.
1 from Real Salt Lake who is a 20 yr old backup goalie for them

So only one player was pulled from a club that has a league game

1 LA Galaxy player - Donovan (some combo of he's special, we need him, LA is out of it anyway despite 5 games in hand, and he skipped the Copa America)

1 Colorado player too - Maestro but he's out now.

All this is one more piece of evidence that MLS needs to adapt to the international calendar in a meaningful way. Like no games this weekend because it is an international date. No you can't play soccer in Foxboro in January but you can at least try to work around the FIFA calendar somewhat.

Yeah that one does puzzle me too. My only guess is that Bradley feels he's behind the others that have been called in. I don't know if I completely agree but regardless of who you like best there really isn't that much a difference between Demerit and Conrad.

Well there is experience, positional smarts, and tactics to name three things that Conrad does better. Maybe you could argue that DeMerit has more heart? Maybe? (No...I didn't think so). Conrad is also a natural leader, maybe the only one we still have on the team.

Seitz is a goalkeeper fyi, oh and arnaud is a RW/FW/RM while all the others in the list you quote are CM's, Kljestan plays on the right for Chivas but functions more like a CM, oh and Altidore is hurt, and Szetela just signed with a new team and has not played well enough consistently enough to get a cap and neither has Adu, oh and YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME and losing to Brazil will not get us a better coach, and the Fed/MLS came up with the "a" team "c" team strategy. On a positive note you are right about landy being inconsistent.

altidore is not hurt. it's just a minor knock. watch when he plays for red bull this week. i know seitz is a goalkeeper. he's young but he is not better than hannehman(forgot how to spell), perkins, reis, guzan. how has adu not played consistently enough when he was the second best player in the u 20s to only dos santos. adu is ready and since benfica aint playing him why should he sit out a match against BRAZIL where he can show his stuff and give his manager at benfica a reason to play him.

  18. #1 Feilhaber and Adu

    Aug 1, 2007
wowwwwwwwwwww adu is not playing are you f*cking kidding me? he was the top U-20 player in the world by far in this summers world cup. This is retarted; we finally have a pele-like american player and Bob bradley manges to kepp f*cking it up, wow his son is on that team over adu when; adu is 100 times better. Dident anybody notice when micheal bradley was not in the one game he was not playing in this year at CM against mexico in the gold cup; thats when feilhaber stepped and was born as a great CM player and the U.S had one of thier best offensive games of the year. HINT! HINT! micheal bradley playing in one of the playmaking roles slows our offensive way down DUHHHHHHHHHHHh. And bob bradley still refuses to see that becuase its his son. So cant u see bob bradley needs to get fired now before its 2 late. Every other country in the world who has an ADU and altidore at 18;plays them in every senior level match like brazil with ronaldo as one example.
