I'm assuming we'll have a room at Stout to see both (the US game is at 4 while the NY game is at 8) and that people will be there for both, but please let me know if I'm wrong.
I'll be at the USA-Brazil game and my love of the Giants outweighs the Red Bulls and they are both on at the same time.
Don't tell me your love of that 'football' team outweighs your love of the Red Bulls. Say it ain't so Roehl!
FYI on Sunday... Get stuffed, get drunk, Hang out and chill, Just be there Sunday, When we beat Brazil. So, yeah, we’re not a poetry club for obvious reasons. That said, this Sunday, the ESC will be in Manhattan, watching 2 soccer games on the main TVs. There are other TVs at Stout as well, so you can get your fix for pointy-ball on Sunday as well if you need it, but we’ll be there for the football without hand contact. It starts at 4pm when the full strength USMNT (Howard, Bradley, Donovan, etc) takes on the full strength Brazil side (Ronaldinho, Baptista, etc.) in Chicago. Sunday, September 9, 2007 * Soldier Field (Chicago, Ill.) NIKE Presents U.S. Men’s National Team vs. Brazil, 4 p.m. ET — Friendly The game is on ESPN2, so we’ll have to out-kick the coverage when it comes to drowning out Wynalda et all. Safe to say there will be Kaka both on our TVs and coming from the speakers, but that’s what songs are for. Here’s the full US Squad: Forwards: Davy Arnaud (Kansas City Wizards), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Eddie Johnson (Kansas City Wizards), Josh Wolff (1860 Munich). Midfielders: Clint Dempsey (Fulham), DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers), Michael Bradley (Heerenveen), Bobby Convey (Reading), Benny Feilhaber (Derby County), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids). Defenders: Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Carlos Bocanegra (Fulham), Jay DeMerit (Watford), Oguchi Onyewu (Standard de Liege), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock), Frank Simek (Sheffield Wednesday), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United). Goalkeepers: Tim Howard (Everton FC), Chris Seitz (Real Salt Lake). FYI, here’s Brazil’s squad too. They are apparently better paid, and have matching luggage of a higher quality, or something: GOALKEEPERS (2): Doni (Roma), Julio Cesar (Inter Milan) DEFENDERS (8): Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Sevilla), Alex Silva (São Paulo), Lúcio (Bayern Munich), Juan (Roma), Alex (Chelsea), Kleber (Santos), Gilberto (Hertha Berlin), MIDFIELDERS (8): Gilberto Silva (Arsenal), Mineiro (Hertha Berlin), Josué (VfL Wolfsburg), Fernando (Bordeaux), Elano (Manchester City), Kaká (AC Milan), Julio Baptista (Real Madrid), Diego (Werder Bremen) FORWARDS (4): Ronaldinho (Barcelona), Robinho (Real Madrid), Vagner Love (CSKA Moscow), Afonso (SC Heerenveen) After that, it’s 2 hours of party time, followed by the New York Red Bulls taking on Chivas de Freeway live and direct from Los Angeles. 09/09 – Sunday, NY @ Chivas USA 8:00 p.m. MSG Hopefully our boys can crash the Menudo concert and get all 3 points, heading into the playoff drive. I'm gonna have to bring my US jersey, my US training jack, then change into my red bull shit later on damn!!!! Still I'm psyched about the possibility of beating brazil and taking full points from chivas
I've got a rehearsal Sunday till 5 PM, but I'll be there for the Red Bull Boyz at 8. I will bring my voice and my thirst!
I was wondering if anyone who lives in Nj is planning on going to Stout's for the USA / Brazil and NY Chivas game. I need a ride back from NYC to Bergen County. Thre are trains but at ridiculous times. If anyone could help out it would be appreciated. Simon T
Get real. All of a sudden I'm not fan enough because mine is a Giants family and that's not going to change just because soccer is the most super duper awesomest sport in the world and I'm supposed to call what my Giants play "pointyball"?
Giants rule. That's all there is to it. And Giants play FOOTBALL. Red Bulls play SOCCER. That's what it called I don't care about that euro bullshit i am american it is soccer here and football is gridiron that's that! Any american born person who calls soccer football annoys me. that being said, rbny takes huge precedent over ny giants. TIVO GIANTS WATCH RED BULLS LIVE
If I was at my home bar in Hoboken I would just have the games on on 2 different TVs are there are plenty of breaks with the Giants but I don't know if I can get away with that in Chicago. I love soccer but I have been a Giants fan over 30 years
What exactly do they rule??? Sport in general??? But, but... the Red Bulls play the ball with their feet. The only time that pointy thing it touches the foot is when that kicker comes out to punt to ball to the other team or attempt a field goal. It's actually called futbol South and Central America, which is, of course, taken from the English 'football'. It can also be correctly called 'balon pie' in spanish. I was born in South America, but I don't think that's the America you are referring to. You might mean the United States of America. I actually do call it soccer here to avoid any confusion. GOOD MAN!
US-Brazil Chivas-NY Glad that Stout will have these games on in addition to NFL. Doesn't beat watching a game live and direct in the stadium, tho. Going up to Boston for that on Sat.
Yup. Um...what about kickoff?? And after a team scores...theres another kickoff...and another...and sometimes another. You forgetting those Yes, it's called futbol there...but they aren't the ones that alwasy give us shit about it... the europeans are. Perhaps the eurosnobs are forgetting that it was them that coined the phrase soccer and implemented it here in the US, in South Africa and in Australia, so they should shut up about it. Nope that's not the America I was referring to...and you knew that it wasn't. People in the US quite often refer to THE USA as America...they call our national team, for example, the americans which implys that the members are from America, or the US...and I'm sure you have referred to it as the same. I don't think anybody would say "I'm taking a trip to America" and then get on a plane bound for Guyana.
I'm going tobe going to Stout's on Sunday. I'm going to be taking the PATH train to 33rd st. When I get out of the PATH station at 33rd coming out at hte Mall entrance, do I turn the corner to go down 33rd or do I cross over Herald Square and continue down 33rd on the other side? When I get to Stouts, is ESC going to have their own room, and is ther eone room you usually have that Ishould look for. Simon T
google the exact address of stout you'll find it easy right by MSG. When you get there just go downstairs that's where ESC is for the games they have a LOT of TV's but usually ESC occupy the top left corner from if you're walking downstaris from the endtracen closest to thefront door. I hope this helps...i'm wasted right now
