The Thunder is expected to announce Thursday that the match it is sponsoring at the Metrodome involving David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy will be postponed from Oct. 10 to later this fall because of the English soccer star's recent knee injury. Isn't it weird that they be playing frindly games so late in the season anyway. Yeah i understand about marketing and how money makes the world go round, but there is also something called professionalism. I guess minnesota fans deserve a chance to see beckham play, but what about LA fans having a chance to checkout the thunder? Move the game into the postseason.
Or, how about Minnesota fans travel to see the Galaxy like everyone else? There's no MLS team anywhere CLOSE to the deep South. If I want to see them, I have to go to LA or to a visiting city. I'm sure a flight from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Toronto or New York would not be that expensive.
Not to mention...get later in the fall in Minnesota... Freezing!!! Our wimpy southern california team will be popsicles in Minnesota! They don't know what "Fall" is anymore...seasons change...hmmm....
Another reason to fire Lalas. He can bitch all the wants about the MLS schedule hurting the Galaxy, but what if we had done well this season. An exhibition game like this at this time of the year would have been bad for the team and would not have had anything to do with MLS. Lalas is the only one to blame for this.
Why? Why in the world do you think Minnesota fans "deserve" ANYTHING from LAG? What have Minnesota fans ever done for LAG that makes them so deserving? The only reason to play these games is to take money from the rubes and generate more national interest in the league. "Deserve" has absolutely nothing to do with it.
You need not wonder why... On the other hand, Galaxy might play even better in the cold...(Captian Beckham: "Just keep running!! Just keep running!!)
Hahahaha... i laughed my ass off when i read this. dude you're right, but i also see the need to spread the gospel of soccer within the America, besides on the coast and in Texas. That's what i'd be trying to do if i was an owner. Move in on a city where professional sports don't exist already, then divide and conquer. Actually i think the thunder should come to LA, and they should televise live in both cities(best case scenario)
Thank God.. and I hope we also cancel Vancouver, Sydney and wherever the hell else we were suspose to play...Lets forget this year, reset, and start fresh in 08...
Could you use a decently sized font, please, old farts with bad eyes (like me) can see the text. That tiny shit is ANNOYING AND DOWNRIGHT RUDE!
Hahaha, you guys slay me. Okay i'll try to remember to use a larger font but the system stays. Long live the days of the 2-3-5 formation, when men were men, and if you didn't score a hattrick a game you were nobody.
BTW - officially announced on mlsnet this morning that both mid-week friendlies (in Minnesota and Vancouver, I think) have been post-poned until after the season (when Becks is healthy). Probably the first good thing to come out of Beckham tweaking his knee.
