And I'll believe you have more than a second grade education about the same time.

Not that I feel the need to prove anything to you, but just for fun, here we go.

I enlisted in 1998 from my home town in Indiana. I went to Parris Island where I was in Third Batallion, India Company, Platoon 3041. Now, before you try to blow the bullshit whistle on me being from Indiana and going to Parris Island, I should tell you that southern Indiana actually ships from the Louisville MEPPS Center. The rest of Indiana ships from Indianapolis and therefore goes to San Diego.

From Parris Island it was off to Camp Lejune for MCT and then to Monterey, CA and the Defense Language Institute at the Presidio of Monterey. At the time it was commanded by Col. Dan Devlin, a hell of a guy who now runs the Defense Support to Public Diplomacy program.

After DLI I spent a few months down at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX. Hated it!

Then it was back to Camp Lejune for three years of fun in the swamps. Well, when I wasn't heading out to Twenty-Nine Palms for CAX or off to the Med on a big, grey boat that is.

So, see any flying pigs yet?

Do you really think he was a Marine? You use the word moron in any sense towards our soldiers and then you say you were a soldier you believe that lie. Call yourself a moron for believing that lie.

    I never said I was a soldier, I said I was a Marine.

And why can't I say they sounded like morons? I always hated it, especially once I was a sergeant and around grunts. All day, "ooh-rah, sergeant!" Do you have any idea how obnoxious that is?

Anyone who's spent time in or around the military will tell you there are plenty of morons wearing a uniform.

Give me your real name on the private email and I will check it out. I will give you my real name in return and you can check me out. Does that sound like a good deal?

That seems a bit stalker-esque to me. I really have no desire to "check you out". I don't really care if you think I'm a liar. I'm confident enough to not worry about what some random dude on the internet thinks about me.

Hell, I could post a couple pictures of myself doing some less-than-intelligent things to prove there are morons in the military. :D

Careful Nick. I think BigGuy might be a republican with a wide, foot tapping stance.

Smarter people than you have tried to make this point, so while the rest of the board is (correctly) attacking the messenger, I'll take on the message.

They're not paid to feel, any more than they're paid to think. They are there to execute the needs of the democracy of the United States of America as ordered by its civilian leadership under the law of the land. They get to vote for Congressmen, Senators and the President like the rest of us. After that, they do not get any special say in what policy is or how it's directed.

As a civilian, the last thing I need are a bunch of armed men and women deciding they don't need to follow the government's orders - even this one's. And if President Paul orders them out of Iraq, then out of Iraq they shall go.

Now, having said all that, we as a civilian democracy have a duty to those soldiers. We demand their unquestioning loyalty and immediate obedience. It is our responsibility to use that loyalty and obedience wisely. We have not. We have violated that trust. We have put them in harm's way for no purpose, and are keeping them there to no use, with no end in sight. The sort of people who are willing to sign over their lives to defend the nation, morons or no, are not an infinite resource. By using them unwisely, we not only weaken ourselves in the short run, but down the road, as we suffer the consequences of a smaller military with lower standards. If we decide that our national interest demands that we leave Iraq, it is our absolute duty to ignore or overrule the wishes of the troops stationed there.

Therefore, who gives a flying fart in a high wind how they reacted to seeing the Commander-In-Chimp?
