Not sure whether this thread has been around before or not but I thought I should start one if that's ok.

Anyways, considering so many great players has put on the historic White shirt of our beloved Real Madrid, which 11 players would you have in the line up to make up the best 11, and what formations would you guys use.

I don't rotten tomatoes thrown at me by my fellow Madridistas so I am not gonna present the best 11 myself, lets be honest its tough for me.

But just for the record, I would include Di Stefano, Zidane, Puskas, Butragueño, Hierro, Roberto Carlos in the mix for sure.

Just curious to see how others will pick.

I've tried to put together a dream 11 many times in my head...it is impossible. We've simply had too many great players. :D

di Stefano, Gento, Puskas, Hugo Sanchez, Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Butrageno would all get a nod on the offensive side of things :)

What about our #2 top scorer of all time? I'm surprised Raul wasn't mentioned yet.

Sorry bud with all due respect to Man United, you must be joking, Beckham won't is not even in the best 22 all time of Real Madrid IMHO. As good as Beckham is he is doesn't match up to some the names of the great Real players.

May be in Man United's all time top 11.

OK OK, why do you think I didn't mention top 11 of mine??? For obvious reasons, its extremely difficult.

Who would you guys pick as top Real Goalie of all time?? Iker should be there in my view, Iker is good and probably one the best Spain had as well. Of course Illgner was good too for Real.

I would also pick Figo, at least over Beckham for sure.

Its always a problem picking Real Madrid best 11 , we had more then best 11 through out our history and 3 golden generations..
the Mid 50's (5 consecutive CL trophies and a 5 & half years unbeaten run in Europe)

the Mid 80's generation with 2 UEFA cup & if Milan didn't have those magical invincible team (Rijkaard,Gullet , Van Basten ) we would have added couple of CL's as well )

    then the mid 90's - early 2000's..
I think the golden team of the 50's deserve to be the best 11 on their own
Di Stefano,Puskas, Kopa , Hector Riel ..etc

then we can form a team from the mid 80's & Mid 90's

    -------------------Casillas-----------
    -- Manu Sanchez-Hierro--Camacho--Roberto Carlos
    ------------------Redondo-------------
    Figo--------------------------------Zidane
    ------------------Laudrup--------------
    ----------Hugo Sanchez----Butre----------
    (i know no RB )

    then subs of
Illgner , Salgado, Michel,Makelele , Raul, Ronaldo , Schuster,Hagi ,Luis Enrique (last 2 are traitor but nevertheless the first has great talent & the second verstile )

But Camacho played LB? and no-one has mentioned Santamaria in their teams. I've seen a few taped games of him. Man, he was a fuvking beast if there ever was one.

It's quite dificult, but there are some players that are a must: Hierro, Gento, Di Stefano, Puskas, Raul and Roberto Carlos.
Butragueño was great, but Raul is greater: more goals, more tittles, more years at the team... It's really not a question Raul is over Butragueño in the Real Madrid's History.
    My team:
    Casillas
    Santamaria Hierro R.Carlos
    Redondo Gento Amancio Juanito
    Puskas Raul Di Stefano

    My take
    First Team
    ---------Ricardo Zamora--------
    Chendo---Santamaria-Heirro--R.Carlos
    -----------Redondo---------------
    Figo-------------------Gento------
    ---------Di Stefano---------
    Puskas----------Hugoal(5 times Pichichi)

Noted: People forgot about Zamora. Hugoal with 5 Pichichi titles beat out Raul and Butre.

    Second Team
    -----------Casillas-------------
    Zoco----Pirri---Manuel Sanchís H--- Camacho
    ----------Bretiner-----------
    Michel-------------Zidane-----
    ---------Kopa------------
    Raul------------Butre

Note: I can switch Bretiner with Makelele.

    Third team
    -------Buyo------
    Salgado-----Stielike----Benito---- Manuel Sanchís M
    -----------Makelele-----Günter Netzer----------
    Grosso -------------------------------------Laudrup
    ----------Amancio--------Santillana-----------------

Note: I am not sure about Buyo and Benito. Miguel Angel or Julio Iglesias can be over Buyo. I cannot think of another centerback in Benito's place. Sergio Ramos probably will one day be on the second time dumping Manuel Sanchis H to the third team. Grosso is over Beckham because Beckham only played good football for half a season.

The selection of forward line was tough. Santillana, Ronaldo and Amancio were close. I cannot ignore Santillana's 290 goals so he is in. Ronaldo was extraordinary when he was fit, but Amanico won the European Cup in 1966 for us and he was two times Pichichi winner. RVN needs to play one more season before I even consider him.

im not going to bother making an all-time 11 cause Real is just too damn good for 11.. Ronaldo is one of the best ever and hes not making people's C squad's.

Ronlado does certainly not belong in Real Madrids best ever. He was great for Inter and Barcelona but not for us.

Are you serious? He wasnt great for us? I would agree at the end of his time for us...But did you watch him during all the seasons he was here??
He was great! And when fit, he was the best by far and scoring leader every time!
I would agree that he does not make the best of all time, but the third team of all time, definitely should be on it.

Exactly my point. Ronaldo has no place in the Real Madrid's All Time Best 11. To be honest Mijatovic deserves to be in there more then him to be honest.

I disagree.. Ronaldo was great as a Real Madrid player. Real has had numerous LEGEND status strikers in its rich history so not including him in an all-time xi is fine but to deny his greatness here is foolish.

from Wiki, 2002-2007 Real Madrid 127 appearances, 83 goals.

    Mijatovic over Ronaldo?

Mijatovic has legend status on him for other reasons.

Ronaldo was great for Real Madrid, but look at the players ahead of him and what they did for Real Madrid. Ronaldo won't beat Puskus, Hugoal, Raul and the Vulture for the first and second team. We all knew what the four did for the team. No one will consider Ronaldo above the four players in terms of Real Madrid performance.

Ronaldo needs to fight for a space on the Third team against Santillana and Amanico. What they did for Real Madrid?

Santillana scored 290 goals for Real Madrid ~ the 2nd all-time highest scorer and 2nd all-time in appearances. What can I do? kick him to the 4th team?

Amanico??? He won 6 straight La Liga titles in his first 6 seasons with Real Madrid. He went on to win 9 La Liga titles and an European Cup. He won two Pichichi titles on back to back occasions, 1969 and 1970.

I can adjust the team to this lineup, but I cannot take Santillana and Amanico off the team for Ronaldo.

    -------------------Buyo------
    Salgado-----Stielike----Benito---- Manuel Sanchís M
    -----------------Makelele---------------
    Günter Netzer-----------------------Laudrup
    ----------Amancio--------Ronaldo-----------
    -----------------Santillana-----------------

BTW, I completely forgot about Schuster when I made the 3 teams.
