I guess he is a fan. It was a segment on Special Report with Brit Hume on home schooled kids forming football teams together. He was on camera wearing an army green DC United t-shirt with "Special Forces" under the logo. I hadn't see that one before. Way to go Darryl. :)

I always thought it was "Darrell" but what do I know, I only idolized the man from the age of 5...

Anyway, yes, Darrell Green is a tremendous asset to the city of DC. Genuine class acts like him are few and far-between these days.

What was the line? "Hi. I'm Larry and this is my brother Darryl and my other brother Darryl." That's how I remember it.

    Damn, "Newhart" was funny.

Yes. True class guy. My Uncle use to run a football camp with him at Montgomery College before the program got shut down. Makes me miss the Hogs. Especially Dave Butz, John Riggins and Art Monk. I could care less about Joe. He is a pompiss ass.

Re: Darrell Green was on Fox Yesterday with a DCU t-shirt

Seeing the name Darrell Green reminded me of the days when I used to not only like the Redskins, but care about the team. It seems like those days are so long ago now.... I'd love for the Skins to be the Skins again. Unless you were a Cowboy fan, it was hard to really hate the Burgundy and Gold. Now, I'm a fan and I hate my own team. I don't even blame Snyder for all of my current feelings for the Redskins. In a dream world, the Redskins would move inside Washington and return to the RFK site into a retractable roof stadium with natural grass that would make Jerry Jones piss his pants and DC United would remain in DC.

The only non-United jersey I own is a Redskins Darrell Green #28. He's a class act.

That's a DC local that MacFarlane should really work to get on his side. Have him helping United lobby for Poplar Point.

And that's a damned good idea.

Will, if you read these boards, get it done. You're the one who brings the sporting giants together...

It is (and always has been) extremely easy to hate the redskins. I was ambivalent toward them until I moved to the east coast. During the Joe Theisman era, I began to really dislike them - I moved here in '83 and instantly learned to despise them. I have to this day, though I do like their current coach (but only as a car owner).
And, I have never liked the cowboys.

I do however agree, Darrell Green is CLASS.

Is it one of the freebies we get every season when they have Armed Forces Day? I have a couple army green DCU t-shirts but never paid anttention to what else is on it.

Best DC sports figure EVER. In his last season, I really wanted to get a Skins 28 jersey with just "GOD" on the back instead of "D. GREEN". Thought some people might have taken offense ;)

Great idea. Green just showing up would be enough to convince the City Council to go with the plan.

Immediately after submitting, I remembered I have always hated Theismann although my parents loved him back in the day. Later, I even hated seeing his restaurant in Alexandria. I hadn't even developed my disdain for Notre Dame when I hated Theismann. I did like Doug Williams though. He always seemed like a good guy.

I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm becoming about as self-loathing as an Eagles fan.

Green in a DC United shirt just brings it all together for me. United just has so much of what I loved about the Skins.

Could a mod please retitle this thread to correct the spelling to Darrell, and then maybe dump this into Lot 8, where it probably belongs? Actually, I don't really care where you put it (or not), just for the love of god, please change the spelling...

While not the same as changing the thread title, you can always change the title of your posts so you don't continue to perpetuate what you hate.;) A quick glance through this thread and you can tell who responded to me just by looking at the title of their posts.

Why, you couldn't even be arsed to change it in your "title" :D

Do we even have mods any more? ;)

Normally I'm afraid to anger them, but I feel I can speak freely now that I'm not sure they exist anymore.:p If we had mods, the "Stadium News and Speculation VI | Email Fenty at Mayor@dc.gov or adrian.fenty@dc.gov" thread would be closed and "Wash. Post - Stadium comment..." would be renamed something like "Stadium News and Speculation VII | [Witty Subtitle Here]." There would be animals in the thread too. The thread is definitely lacking animals.;)
