METZENG- Has the possibility of Yallop coaching the new Earthquakes in 2008 become a virtual certainty now that Beckham is gone for the season?

IVES- I don't see how Yallop doesn't wind up coaching the Earthquakes in 2008.

TONY M- Is there any hesitancy on Bradley's part for giving Josy a shot with the senior side? If not, when do you think he'll get capped?

Also, any rumors on the Earthquakes coaches, DP, etc.?

IVES- People (US fans) have got to relax about Jozy Altidore. I totally get the excitement for having such a great prospect (particularly when the national team is BEGGING for a quality striker) but there is no point in rushing the kid. He is the future of the national team and, regardless of what some fans think, his growth isn't going to be stunted if he misses some friendlies this fall. His time is coming soon enough, you can bet that Bob Bradley is going to handle him carefully.

As for the San Jose job, I can't imagine they would hire anybody until they know Yallop is available or not. He will be available and the job will be his if he wants it. Then again he may need a year rehabbing from the mental anguish of working for a team run by Alexi Lalas.

Tony M is me, by the way.

I wonder if he has any information about Yallop and the Quakes (such as conversations with people close to the situation) or if he is just following logical speculation.

I see there are others laughing at exactly what I was guffawing at:
"Then again he may need a year rehabbing from the mental anguish of working for a team run by Alexi Lalas."

His stuff here is the most positive I've seen on Yallop coming [back] to the Quakes. I'd say he's got some inside dope from somewhere.

I think he is just speculating, and I think he'll be proven wrong. I think LA will give Yallop another year.

Ives is wrong...a lot. His information is only this side of BigSoccer in its reliability.

Danny Szetela to Roma a done deal...or not.

Given the fact that Yallop has not been let go subsequent to the Pachuca and RSL games, I am beginning to believe that he will be given another season, and that it's Bozo the Lalas who will be sent packing...

But MLSRumors says that Yallop is to step down within 24 to 48 hours!

Oh wait, they posted that last Wednesday.

My guess is that AEG/gAlexi have offered the job to at least a couple of people, but no one wants to take it if it means working with Lala. So Frank is sort of a caretaker coach for now until either some idiot agrees to work with gAlexi, or AEg decides to throw gAlexi under the bus too!

I mean, surely when your team sucks as badly as the evil, cheating, water-stealing, smog-breathing, league-favored, baby-eating galactoposers, you sack the coach. What other option is there?

    GOOOOOOOO QUAKES!!!!!!!!! :D

Yallop needs to get smart and walk away before other doors close.

You'd think that even the dumb-ass Galactoscum owners would have the brains to see what the constant quotient in this losing team is. Should be a simple question: What factor has been at the top of the Scum pyramid throughout the seasons that they have been doing badly since the idiotic firing of Sigismund von Schmid? If they'd look at it that way, they'd find it hard to even pin the problem on Samson.

If he unilaterally quits, AEG can prevent him from coaching elsewhere until the end of his contract term, whenever that is. In order to pursue other opportunities, he either needs to get fired or make some kind of severance/buyout agreement.

in an article on yahoo, Lalas said that Yallop's status wouldn't be considered until the Galaxy were out of playoff contention.

"On one hand you are pleased with the effort and the chances; on the other hand, this is a results-orientated business and we are losing at home to one of the lower teams in the league," Lalas told Yahoo! Sports. "There is a level of pressure for all the coaches of the Galaxy. Frank knows full well what our expectations are and we still have full confidence in him and what he can give this team.

"If there is an opportunity for this organization to get into the playoffs, as there still is right now, then Frank is going to lead our charge into that. If there comes a point where the possibility does not exist, then we will deal with it at that time."

As of 9/4, LA is 14 points behind Columbus and Colorado, with four games in hand. Another point is that the Galaxy is 0-6-3 on the road this year.

On the other hand, Landycakes talks about how he has told "Tim" (of Lieweekly fame) that Frank is not to blame, and IIRC L-cakes claims that L-weekly is on board with that. Interesting that this type of conversation would go on - right around Lala. So I don't know what to expect. How can Lala act, again, like he's totally unaccountable? "It's a result-oriented business", right Lala?

So I don't really know what to expect. If it's Lala's call I think he might fire Frank. But then Landy, and possibly Becks also, might lobby for Frank - around Lala.

My guess is that, when the dust settles, and playoffs or not (probably not), they are going to buy into the messed up schedule + injuries excuse and give Frank on more season. Remember also that Yallop had the Gals playing pretty well at the end of last year.

There is no such constant, other than Lieweakly and the filthy AEG ownership itself.

gAlexi Lala was a player for a while, then he left and was our pseudo manager for a while, then the GM of New Yawk, then on to the stinking, rotten, foetid, vomitous, league-favored, water-stealing, smog-breathing galactofilth. So you can't even say the gAlexi is the constant source of filth.

Do you want to blame Cobi "Half-a-Man" Jones? I think he is part of the problem, but surely he isn't the driving force behind the evil, cheating, water-stealers?

No, it is El-Lay itself. I really think that the team has developed a culture of prima donas where the players have become more important to the organization than the coach. As a result, the coach cannot instill any discipline, and his authority is undercut. Leaving the club rudderless in the storm.

So I think it's prefect! :D Even if they fire Frank and get Klinsmann (or anyone else) their team will continue to suck until they also replace the GM and give the GM a big enough stick to punish the players when they misbehave or come to practice late.

    GOOOO QUAAAAAAAKES!!!! :D

Can't imagine that Klinsi, who didn't take the US job over control issues (reportedly), would go to work with... Alexi Lalas?

If I were Klinsi, that would be the first person I would want to get rid of.

There is no question that Klinsi wouldn't have 100% control of personnel questions.

Firing Lalalas would not be mys first directive. I would make his departure a condition of accepting the job!

What a stinking, smoking pile of smoldering crap the Filth is these days but you know what, in the end, at least they *have* a team!

Imagine this time next year, we may or may not be in the same situation but we should have a team. I can't wait.

Speaking of gAlexi Lala, that turd will be on Fox Soccer Channel's Fone in program, tonight! Check your listings. We get it twice at 6:00 and 8:00. GoatBoy is on towards the end, but hey, he could be on from the beginning. I don't know, I just caught the end.

The moron actually said that on paper the schedule didn't look too bad. Yeah, right. Every fan I know scans the schedule as soon as it comes out and complains about consecutive away dates and any span of six days with more than one match. How is it possible that stupid couldn't figure out that this was bad?! Oh right, it's frigging gAlexi! He was talking like he'll be there next season too. Perfect!

    GOOOOOO QUAAAAAAKES!!!!! :D :D :D

LALAs said on FSC last night that he really liked Frank Yaollop as a coach but then again I also herd that the two hadn't spoken to each other in weeks. Who knows at this point?

What mathematical chance to the Laxatives really have to make the playoffs. I think they're delusional if they consider themselves in contention.
