Seriously, this chump is awful. Conservatism is not that difficult. The whole premise is that people should be trusted to make both good and bad choices and that they have to live with the consequences of their actions.

Instead, Bush lays it down and says "guess what irresponsible people, the market only goes up for you and the all of you renters and long term homeowners can dig a hole and go ******** yourself into it" This is an abomination on the scale of No Child Left Behind.

People like Bush, for the sake of the nation need to be purged from the party. Real conservatives need to take over again. Do you think Newt would haver pulled such a bailout? I don't think so.

I hate to tell you, but the real consevatives are now the endangered ones in the GOP. Newt was purged some time ago, if you hadn't noticed.

The GOP has become nearly as harebrained as the Dems, it's depressing.

Matt: Take a peek at the specifics here; no bailout despite you Dems trying to make it so... and your holier than thou conservative act doesn't float here!

by the way.. while you Dems are hiding in beltway foxholes trying desperately to surrender, our leader is over in peaceful Anbar Province.. you know... that area of Iraq you Dems cited as the lawless frontier... he meeting this morning with Sheiks and setting up government...I know...success sucks with you guys...

I tend to regard a league as a product, not it's individual teams. It's just a different take on what a free market should be.

I am Sickened by people who like salary caps. I would rather have 8 very talented teams who provide entertaining football and can compete and win the Superliga or bigger tournaments than have some artificial way of promoting fair competition so everyone can feel good about themselves and we can keep teams in Kansas City. Salary caps=parity=mediocrity....which is what MLS is.

Is that what the NFL is or what the NHL is?

The NFL is definately worse than it used to be and pretty much everyone agrees the NHL isn't what it was in the 80's (same with the NBA). But regardless, the best players at those sports play in the NFL or NHL so it's not a fair comparison.

Based on what? The buckets of money they bring in or the dozens of sellouts they have every Sunday?

Maybe hype wise. But post strike hockey is far more entertaining than pre strike hockey. And the attendence numbers are up in most markets.

And the best players play there because they are the best leagues.

The NFL was making loads of money before the salary cap. And again, the NFL has no competition. Furthermore, MLB makes alot of money and they don't have a cap. The EPL makes money and they have no cap (yes I am aware that many of the clubs are in debt, but many are making gobs of money).

I hate when people compare MLS to the NFL. If you put a cap on the NFL then there is nowhere else to go. In MLS once you can make more money you move to Europe and MLS loses talent. I also hate comparisons to the NASL, apples and oranges for several reasons.

And put it this way: do you want to see good, entertaining soccer? Wouldn't the Galaxy be much more entertaining if AEG was allowed to spend whatever it wanted? Sure the Wizards or the old Miami Fusion would never be able to compete....but then I would say they shouldn't be in the league to begin with. Like I said, I would prefer a league with 8 rich teams to what we have now. MLS is not very good, as much as I like it. So that is why we have 0.2 tv ratings and the mexican league gets higher ratings here in the US.

My liberal wife looked up from an article about the bailout and had the following rant:

"What the hell? Why is it that people who bought more house than they could afford get help, while we get nothing, because we were careful about what we could afford and got a house and mortgage we knew was within our means. It's almost like we're getting punished for living within our means? Where's our handout?"

I'm slowly having an influence. :)
