Start time for this game has been pushed back to 7:30pm Please make a note of that!

With that in mind, I cant wait for this game.
I think our defense should have no problems holding DC's attack,
However, I think that DC will have lots of trouble keeping Razov and Galindo off the score sheet!

I am glad they changed the start time, I will be having a meeting that day in Thousand Oaks so that gives me a little bit more time to drive all the way to Carson. :D

    Vamos Chivas!!

This is a HUGE game in the race to the Supporters shield. Its down to NE DCU Dynamos and Chivas. If we can beat DCU I really like our chances at the shield. Though winning it is bad sign if you plan on winning the MLS Cup.

    Chivas 2
    DCU 1

This here in my view is BIGGER then beating the GaLAxy, if Chivas USA come away with a victory even a draw I'll take it... a loss will be a bummer but they can rebound if they lose. TOUGH GAME!

Date of game has been pushed back to 9/6/2007, you should note that too. :D

(I saw the thread title, and thought, dang, I don't remember playing Chivas back in July...)

This will be a true test for our boys. At this time DC is looking like a true contender coming out of the east, even more so than Houston. WE all know about our issues with Houston. I'll still have confidence in our boys, but this may end up in a 1:1 tie.

yeah i wouldnt say our defense wont be having any problems with the likes of emilio and fred around. should be a test (no zotinca, among other things). didnt like how we manned the wings against RSL and if we let it happen again, fred's gonna be breaking some ankles.

word on the street is that carroll and boswell are gonna be traded so it might be something our scouts will be looking at.

    loooking forward to it.

I'm usually cautious with my predictions, but this match is OURS. Sure, DC went undefeated ( in MLS ) in August, but they have a tough couple weeks ahead. Here's a quick look:

    09/01 - Saturday@ FC Dallas 09/06 - Thursday@ Chivas USA 09/09 - SundayNew England Revolution

These are all big games for DC, so I see them winning at the Burn (I'm old school MLS) and limping into the HDC with tired legs on 9/6. They've got a rivalry match at home 3 days later, so they'll need to be as fresh as possible for that.

    Chivas USA 3 - DC 1

We'll see 'em later at their house for the Cup..... they'll roll out a better side for that one.

The last time DC had three games in a week, it ran the table (which incidentally was last week). Heavy schedule excuses are for teams with lack of depth; DC is rotating players constantly to keep the team fresh. There shouldn't be any "tired legs" or limping for the game on Thursday.

I agree about DC having depth, especially in the striker department...Should be a tough match.

This will be a tough battle for Chivas USA, but they need to win these type of games to see where they are at when it comes to the top teams in the league. D.C. have struckback and they look very tough, but Chivas USA can beat these guys...

To tell you the truth i think Houston is a tougher team, i know it wont be easy but im pretty shure of a win against United.

I think you all are in need of a little statistical help here.

    Offense:
    DC: 22 games, 40 goals scored (1.82/game)
    Chivas: 20 games, 30 goals scored (1.5/game)

    Defense:
    DC: 23 goals allowed (1.05/game)
    Chivas: 19 goals allowed (.95/game)

And keep in mind with all of this that these numbers include DC’s horrible start to the season, which highlights even more how well they’ve been playing. FYI, in its last six league games, DC has outscored their opponents 14-1, and that one goal allowed was a penalty kick.

    Points per game:
    DC: 1.91
    New England: 1.83
    Chivas: 1.8
    Dallas: 1.64
    Houston: 1.58
    New York: 1.57

So, Dallas is not out of it by any means yet, and Houston is not quite the powerhouse many still make them out to be. Except for that great stretch in June and early July, Houston has been pretty ordinary. If you ask me, DC and Chivas are positioned the best to make a run for the SS as they have played fewer games than the other leaders and have a good number of games at home to end the season

If current form is any indication, I would give DC a little more credit. In their last six games, DC are 6-0-0, and that includes 3-0 and 4-0 wins against New England and Dallas respectively. The last time you all played Houston, when they beat you 4-0 in June, they were 3-3 in their last six games.

In your favor, excluding this recent stretch of road results, DC has not been a strong road team, and Chivas has not lost at home this season. So, things could go either way. But I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss United.

If you are gonna completely rely on paper, then you are in for a rude awakening! If that is how everything was done then why would they even play. I think that we are going to see a GREAT game in which both teams give it there all, unlike other teams. cough, cough, Galaxy, cough, cough. I still say it will be a 3-1 Chivas USA win.:D

Oh, believe me, I know stats are never even close to the whole story, but in this case I just thought the numbers were interesting and provided a side to the argument that you all were maybe overlooking in getting yourselves pumped up for DC.
I give a lot of respect to Chivas though and am by no means expecting a result one way or the other. It'll be a great game.

I'm looking forward to this match and can't wait to get out to the HDC Thursday night. After that dismantling of the Burn (ya, I know) on the road, DC is probably the best team in league play right now. (I'm not counting that recent tournament loss to the Gals.)

Chivas USA has been great at home and I'm looking to see that continue, and what a great opportunity to see how we fair against the class of the league!

I'll stick by my 3-1 prediction, but regardless of the outcome, I just hope we get some people out to watch it. Unfortunately, I think the NFL season kicks off Thursday, so there will be a piss poor crowd. (not even a 2 seat, 2 beer, Chiva Girl lap dance promo is gonna help ! )

i forgot about the "guys night out" promo.

its a good deal if you think about it - especially for that large beer which is normally like what 12 bucks?

who's going in on this one?

I think we have two ticket promo's going on Thursday. Guys Night Out as well as Back to Schol Night...... or something like that. So you can choose what works best for you! I decided to go with the GNO deal since you get two beers. My 8 year old doesn't drink, so I'm hoping he'll share.

    Yeah, statistics are important
you forgot to mention that Chivas is 0 - 5 Vs DC United as well. :D
Oh, in case you didn't know, Chivas is not allowed to have penalty kicks, so you don't have to worry about that statistic there...
So DC has outscored opponents 14 - 0 making your defense even more impressive.

I have not said that Chivas will have a cake walk game Vs United for you to come here telling us about statistics!
    Statistics... statistics? Oh! statistics!!!
Statistics would have you thinking that Donovan would have scored those penalty kicks Vs Pachuca last week and Vs Real SL Right?

I say to hell with all the statistics, Chivas don't play with statistics...
    Chivas plays with passion!

It should be a good game...
    Vamos Chivas!!!
