Richards is out for yellows cards for the game with Chivas, ¿who must play for him?, Sinisa or Schopps....or maybe Caccavale....

i don't think caccavale is a favorite of bruce's. he looked very unhappy today after the reserve game. he only played for a very short time. he deserves so much more, as he's a quality player. sinisa is a younger version of dema and schopp played really hard today. i think any one of them could do the job, but i'd love to see either sal or sinisa have a shot.

Seems like Doe has a leg up, no? Or maybe Dema if he's ready to go?

I think Dema if he's ready.

They say Doe plays right mid as well, but if Jozy can't go, then Bruce has a decision to make. Maybe Stammler at right mid with Mendes in the back

Well I thing it is a beautiful thing to have this kind of problem, because really that position can be played for several red bulls, like, Stammler, Maggee, Dema, Sinisa, Caccavale, Schopp & Doe and is a good thing what is happening to us, now we only need to look for the starter in each one of the positions and we will be competitive in the league and a contender for the cup....

Be glad that Dane Richards left his wing position to slot the ball to Angel from the center of the field.

If you truly believe that people have correct positions and should stick with them, you should read up on a little concept called "Total Football" and a little known footballer named Johann Cruyff.

What is Stammler's correct position? or Dema's? or Clint's?

(I'd include Reyna, but I don't feel like deleting a bunch of "on the bench" replies)

utillity men (to use a baseball term) are quite useful for exactly these type of situations

I say play Dema if he is ready. Put him and Reyna in the middle with Mathis on the right and VDB on the left. Vide is probably going to be the odd man out. If Jozy isn't ready then Doe should start alongside Angel.

Utility men are great, but we need players when healthy to play a set position...We've never had great wingers and we need to fix that...

I'm not sure what you mean by set position, but if someone plays the same spot and style week in and week out, they are very easy to shut down.

If you have a team that knows how to shuffle around, move into new positions from time to time (think about how switching Richards and Van den burgh) you can catch teams off guard.

And to do this, you need to have players that can play in more than one position, or you are inviting a lethal counter attack.

You didn't read the link, did you? You should, I wasn't trying to be a smartass. (ok, maybe a little. ;) )

    Back to the question.

I'd like to see Altidore, Angel and Doe up front, so pick either Jozy or Doe to replace Richards.

From what I saw of him Saturday, I think Doe could play there (but then again, I think Jozy can too.)

Maybe Jozy and Francis switching back and forth on that side.

One thing I do want to see is someone else in left back. VDB did OK, but he's so much more an attacking player than a defender. Move Mendes back into the lineup, and put him, Leitch or Stammler out left to move VDB up top. (Ok, so we'd have to drop Vide, but maybe Vide can relieve Reyna or Mathis after 60 - 75.)

Well the difference between us and the scum for example is, they keep they good payers for years at the time and have the opportunity of build a good team, we just start and will need at least couple of more years to arrive if we keep the good players with us and look all over the world for another's to complement what we have, because at the end of this year we only can really keep in the roster:

Goal Keepers: Mr. Pants and Cepero...

In Defense: Mendes, Parke and Freeman

In the Mid: Stammler, Sinisa, Richards, Kovalenko, Quaranta, Karcz, Caccavale and Vide

Strikers: Angel, Josy (if we can) and Patterson

And with this players try to build from here on....

    The others player like:

Ikangu, he is 21 years old all ready and he is not ready, that mean he never will be...

Blake Camp 24 years old, the same....

    Laventure 25 and counting....

Reyna, Schopp and BDV, they are a fluke.....They got o go....

    Goldwaithe the same....

Leitch, Maggee, Wally and Mathis I will keeping them until we can find better players to replace them.. But they are in my list of players that have to go....

    By set position I mean:

When will we have a squad with more of those players who play in a certain position....Utility men won't win you every game you need to play everyone where they belong..

Well, we don't have 11 starters and need to feel the roster Little by little, but by the beginning of 2008 we can count with, as a starters:

    ...........................Mr Pants

    ...Freeman...Parke... xxxxxxx...Mendez

    ..............Kovalenko...Reyna

    ...Richards..........Mathis.........xxxxxx

    ..................Josy......Angel

When we start the 2007 we don't have a shit and now we have a base where to start... At least a couple of player in the younger league and maybe couple more from outside and some couple from the super draft, let see what happening next year...this year we can't do nothing more, just wait for 2008.. If we go all the way to quartos or finals that will be fantastic but probable not...

The only wrong with this list is, that Reyna and Mathis get to go sooner that later, I don't thing that even one of them will be here all 2008... and we have to look for both players by august of next year....

i love how waterreus distributes the ball tho...uses (but sometimes over-uses) richards' speed...angel's flick ability...
i just HATE that he comes off his line when the player is close enough to chip (Blanco almost did/should have)

    my starting 11:

    ---------------Angel--------------Jozy-------------------
    Mathis-------------------------------------------Richards
    -------------------Reyna------Dema---------------------
    VDB/Stammler------------------------------------Freeman
    ------------------Parke-------Mendes--------------------
    ----------------------Waterreus--------------------------

    Forward sub: Woly
    Forward/outside mid sub: Doe!, Magee
    Forward/central mid sub: Sinisa
    Defense/outside mid sub: VDB
Defense/central mid sub: Stammler, Vide, Schopp
    Defense sub: Leitch, Goldthwaite

Should be the rotation...Most of our other talents (Ikangu, Caccavale, Jerrod...) are young and will get their chances next year when some things clear up...

    Any thoughts?

I think the folks taking Vide out of the d-mid slot either haven't been paying attention or just don't understand the game.

Um, is everyone forgetting that the main reason for this thread is that Richards is out on yellow accumulation?

Vide has been the ball hawk we needed. He and Stammler win every 50/50 ball, or so it seems. He has to stay.
