So, um Michigan's out of the National Title Picture......... As a VT grad, I'm glad that will overshadow how bad we were this weekend.
I wish I could've seen that game, but I don't get the Big Ten network. What a way for that network to boost their leverage with potential carriers. So .... I think I heard this was the first time Michigan *ever* played a 1-AA team? Ha. And by the way ... how ridiculous is it that they've renamed 1-A and 1-AA to the "Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision" and the "Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision". They're just going to have to explain what the hell they're talking about each time they say that ("formerly 1-AA.
I love to see anyone from the Big Ten get embarrassed. So, yaaay to Appalachian State. But the one thing I love more than a Big Ten team getting embarrassed is Notre Dame getting embarrassed. So kudos to Georgia Tech. And I love how NBC was trying their damnedest to put a pretty face and that shellacking Notre Dame got. LMAO!
Ohio State wins comfortably, Cal wins against a top 25 side, Meechigan embarassed (at home!!!!), Notre Dame embarassed............I can't think of a better day of college football.
i'd just like to say that everytime they updated the Michigan/App. State score yeseterday when I was sitting in Beaver stadium.. it was like an orgasm here's the students' reaction to the loss..
And this is where I don't get Big10 fans... Sure I hate Michigan, I mean I've grown up a Buckeye so the hate is in my blood - but to have a team in your own conference that is supposed to be the "cream of the crop" lose to a 1-AA team isn't really what you're hoping for cause it makes your conference look pretty crappy. Sure as a college football fan it's great to see something like that happen but to be happy, cheer, jump around as a team from your own conference gets embarassed? Well lets just hope you don't go off and lose to Michigan because then you'll be the team that lost to the team that lost to a 1-AA team. Ohh, and when you beat them, your victory sure wouldn't be a sweet as if they were the #5 ranked, undefeated Wolverines - a victory that would have the sporting world take notice and allow you to begin the climb up the BCS standings...
See, I've never understood the mentality that you have. Most fans have your mentality, but I just can't do it. A lot of USC (the real one, not those poser in Cali.) fans root for other SEC teams. I just can't do it. I CAN'T root for teams that play my team on a consistent basis. Who cares how good it makes our conference look? I've never gotten the judging of conferences, I'm into the judging of teams. So, needless to say, I was rooting for W. Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, California, and whoever any other SEC teams were playing this weekend. An SEC vs. SEC game (not involving the Cocks) for me is like an unbelievable paradigm, because if I got what I wanted, both teams would lose.
I support the Big 10, and I know it looks so much better to beat teams that are ranked higher.. but it just felt soooo good, as a Buckeyes fan you know Michigan fans are a bunch of cocky sons of bitches, so it just felt good to know that their god complex was tainted i know it's going to be a tough game in Ann Arbor for us, but i was sick of the preseason Michigan hype furthermore.. i LOVE upsets
In general, I support other teams from my team's conference. But there are always exceptions to that rule because there are some teams you simply HATE. In basketball, you would be hard-pressed to find any Duke fan pulling for UNC (or vice versa), regardless of the circumstances. Ohio State-Michigan and Oklahoma-Texas fall into this category in football. I also think it's normal for any "underdog" in a more lopsided conference rivalry to enjoy it when their more-acclaimed rival loses (Oklahoma State-Oklahoma, Michigan State-Michigan, Texas A&M-Texas all come to mind).
Did anybody catch the end of the Florida St. vs. Clemson game yesterday? I know Clemson fan was excited, and had a few pops, but there's no need to storm the field after you beat the #19 team in the country in the first game of the season. I don't know that's just me.
I agree. But, that's Clemson for you. They were actually looking to graze the field, but security got there too fast. I hate FSU didn't pull that one out. But, don't worry, Clemson will choke at the end of the season, they always do. And believe me, this year the score for the Carolina-Clemson game won't be as close as it was last year.
USC is in Los Angeles (and Carolina is in Chapel Hill). Deal with it. Those rednecks in Columbia had to threaten to sue the national media to be called "USC" because there's no evidence that anyone even attends school in South Carolina at any level. Without that whiny suit, "The University (sic) of South Carolina" is all any media figure would ever call your school. It has what- two basketball SEC titles, one Heisman winner and no national championships other than maybe horseshoe throwing or jaw harp playing. Hell, even Furman and The Citadel laugh at your athletic and academic failures. Win something. Better yet, BE something.
Oooh, ouch. Uncalled for-attack alert! Actually, I have no ties to South Carolina in any way (although I did grow up in a city named Columbia, and they do have nice golf courses). I will say that any school whose nickname is the Cocks is fine by me.
The real red-necks are in Athens and Clemson my friend. Don't pull the, "everyone in the South is a redneck card" Because you know that just isn't true. At one high school in Columbia, we had three guys make a 2400 on the SAT (even though the writing portion doesn't count at this point). I made a 1320 (out of 1600. I think I made 2000 out of 2400). What'd you make? Rednecks? PLEASE! And, you want to talk about sueing? Southern Cal is trying to sue us for using this logo on a baseball caps... Because it looks similar to this logo.... Now THAT is ridiculous.
