    Well explained, Arsene. Reason prevail.

We're in year 3 of his 5 year plan... spending huge was never part of it... soon we'll be kings... and everyone else's stars will be aging..

    I stand corrected.

I just hope Cesc, Toure and RVP are willing to wait. We may not have to wait long, we have looked good thus far...

Very interesting! How reliable a source is the Daily Mail?

It certainly does seem plausible that AW would say these things... these quotes certainly support the way he has acted or rather not acted in the transfer market.

But I wonder. Up until this he's been mostly coy, vague & general about his budget/spedning, e.g. "I've got enough money, if I choose to spend it", so why would he all of a sudden get so bloody specific about 15/30/60million players?

Yeah, this has been my thinking too. AW has incredible patience nurturing young players. Not everyone shares his patience. Some fans certainly are a little antsy after 3 years of "rebuilding" and one has to wonder about some key players too. But if AW signs a new contract that's a huge plus and hopefully will do a lot towards keeping those players contented & staying put. :)

Yeah that's for sure. But he usually leaves off these specifics, when talking about transfer budgets/fees.

Oh Arsene, you don't have to explain .. The media, along with the football 'pundits' talk crap at every opportunity to slag off Arsenal .. Don't pay them any heed, just sign your new long term contract ..

Interesting analysis you found RMG... cost per points! Reminds me of my tight-wad skiing buddy who used to calculate "cost per run" so he could minimize it. ;)

It's been known for some time that Arsenal under Arsene, is clearly a great bargain compared to the other top EPL clubs. And why all those foreigners with money are circling like sharks.

But the other analysis, which many fans care more about, is silverware.

Right now Arsenal have to feel pretty good about their financial position, their beautiful game, and being able to compete at the highest level.

But even with his early successes, I don't think Wenger will feel truly vindicated unless he wins a big trophy or two, before his new contract runs out in 3 years. He's said recently how much winning means to him.

I think 1 CL, or 1-2 EPL's would do the trick. :D And an FAC would be a nice addition... but more consolation material I think. (I'm leaving out LC on purpose because it's not widely considered a "big trophy")

Interesting stuff. Wonder if that "pound-per-point" analysis includes the wage bill? We'd be looking an even shrewder outfit then, I'd bet.
