What are the 4 groupings to determine the CL groups look like? If anyone knows and posts the pots it would be much appreciated
If Sevilla defeat AEK this is what the pots will look like: Code: Pot 1 coef. Pot 2 coef. ------------------------ --- ------- ------------------------ --- ------- AC Milan (TH) Ita 133.808 Valencia *** Esp 99.374 FC Barcelona Esp 119.374 Olympique Lyon Fra 95.706 Liverpool *** Eng 112.618 FC Porto Por 89.107 Internazionale Ita 107.808 Sevilla *** Esp 87.374 Arsenal *** Eng 104.618 PSV Eindhoven Ned 81.995 Real Madrid Esp 104.374 AS Roma Ita 78.808 Chelsea Eng 99.618 Benfica *** Por 67.107 Manchester United Eng 99.618 Werder Bremen *** Ger 63.640 Pot 3 coef. Pot 4 coef. ------------------------ --- ------- ------------------------ --- ------- Celtic *** Sco 62.064 Glasgow Rangers ** Sco 47.064 Schalke 04 Ger 60.640 Shakhtar Donetsk ** Ukr 44.726 VfB Stuttgart Ger 58.640 Besiktas ** Tur 43.791 Steaua Bucuresti ** Rom 55.255 Olympiakos Piraeus Gre 42.415 CSKA Moscow Rus 53.920 Dinamo Kiev *** Ukr 38.726 Sporting CP Lisbon Por 52.107 Fenerbahçe *** Tur 36.791 Lazio Roma *** Ita 51.808 Slavia Praha ** Cze 32.851 Olympique Marseille Fra 51.706 Rosenborg BK ** Nor 31.509 http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seedcl2007.html I'm not sure if the draw will go ahead as scheduled tomorrow since the Sevilla/AEK match won't be played until Monday. Anybody know what UEFA will do?
It's a shame Spartak Moscow have been knocked out. They are better than some of the teams in the draw.
As Schalke Supporter I would choose: ManU PSV (2 hours drive) Rangers Awesome group for us. Very hard, but not impossible to get the 2nd place. Sevilla would be also nice...good relations to the club since UEFA Cup 05/06 semifinal!
For Chelsea i think the hardest would be Valencia, Shalke, and Shaktar with the easiest being, Roma, Marseille, and Rosenborg
Speaking of Schalke I think I'd rather see a group like: Arsenal PSV Schalke Fenerbahce I've always liked Schalke - Fener games. Not because of the score, but because they're always entertaining. And whoever picks Valencia off the 2nd pot and Stuttgart off the 3rd is one unlucky sob in my opinion. I'd think THAT would be the group of death for any team in the 4th pot.
how can inter be in the 1st pot? where do they have the points from? I dont remember them doing anything in europe.
2003 - SF in CL 2004 - QF in UC 2005 - QF in CL 2006 - QF in CL 2007 - Made it out of the group stage in CL
I think it's wrong that the fourth best English club are in the first pot while the German champions are in the third.
I see your point. I think the champions of the 8 best leagues in Europe (England, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, Holland & Turkey), should all be in pot 1. That would be a just reward for winning your domestic league and it would add more credence to the competition. It is called the Champions league after all. I know people will say that the winners of the competition aren't always champions of their domestic league. Liverpool and AC Milan being recent and prime examples of this. But to be honest, that's tough. I'd still put them in pot 2, whether they're the reigning champs or not.
you rate turkey's league as 8th best? and yet the two scottish clubs have a higher co-efficient than either turkish club. and in celtic's case by quite a considerable distance. surely we would deserve to be placed above them on that point alone? and please dont mention the lack of domestic competition as our drawback. i'm well aware that it is but doesn't that also ring true to a certain extent in france, portugal and holland?
Just because the best Scottish teams have better luck in Europe than Turkish teams don't necessarily mean that your league is better than ours.
celtic have the 2nd best home record in champions league history. i fail to see where luck comes into this. would you care to elaborate?
Celtic and Fenerbahce are very similar in my opinion, Fener have 25M fans and I am sure that Celtic have the same amount, Both teams are probably just as rich. It's all about luck, we have never been able to bring in world class players due to our reputation so then we can't play well in the Champions League. On the other hand Celtic keep doing well in Europe. How well we do in Europe should now really have a say in how good our league is, our average attendance in our league is almost the same (Bearing in mind that we dont have Goztepe, Karsiyaka, Eskisehir, Adana, Samsun in the top league of Turkey). A Turkish company have to pay €180M a year just to have the rights to broadcast our league games. Personally I think the Turkish League is better than the Scottish league but only slightly
