Firstly, nice to see that Blackburn have reduced thier tickets from 36 quid last season to 20 nicker this season.

The benefits can be seen already. Last year only 3,500 went, this year we have sold over 5,500. It just goes to show that the cheaper the ticket prices, the more fans will go (Sheff Weds in the cup with 6,800 going, and Blackburn in the quarter final with 7,500 going)

Anyhow, I will be in the lower tier as usual and probably quite drunk. I say we will win 2-0. I rate Blackburn but they deserve a beating. :D

I think it'll be quite a tough match with the final scoreline being 2-1. Blackburn have been tough to us over the past couple years and I think they trend will continue. Hopefully, we come out on top of this scoreline.

1-nil seems like a proper line.

Yup. Will be interestign to see how our men take the rough approach of Blackburn. I can see us winning 1-0, or a draw at 1-1

P.S (Cityblues, Put a [R] in the thread title so we don't have to make a separate page for the match!)

Went ahead and updated this and added a sticky for kicks. By the way this game is NOT on tv in the United States so those who have internet access will probably have to use one of the P2P sites to get the game. Just fair warning.

The match was meant to be yesterday but with Blackburn playing in the UEFA Cup its been moved forward a day. So basically its just been rescheduled. Blackburn could well outmuscle us so I would settle for a point. However, we have more flair so we could win it that way. Their strengths lie in midfield, because as good as McCarthy is it is Savage, Tudgay, Bentley and Pederson who dominate the midfield and create the chances. Richards and Dunne should cope with Santa Cruz and McCarthy but midfield is where the game will be won or lost. I was trying to think of the team I would pick, but I'm struggling to. Upfront, Elano has been a sensation with 3 assists but Mpenza is a more physical presence so that may be needed. A strikeforce of Mpenza and Bianchi, shift Elano back to midfield but who do you get rid of? I'm sure Sven will get it right.

Can someone give us a match report? Is there anything that was good about our game, what team did Sven select, etc etc? It wasn't televised here.

I'll not post any more predictions on our matches, l may have jinxed them.

Villa next at home - they played a fantastic game against Chelsea, so we have to get back to our earlier form. I don't want to have another topsy-turvy season!

I hate losing to Blackburn. Everyone can check out the match report at the MCFC website at this link:

Unfortunately I cannot give proper analysis of the game because I didn't see any of it, but it sounds like we were pretty stagnant. Blackburn is also notoriously an 'aggressive' team so we may have had trouble there, as any team would with such a hacking team. Anyhow, lets regroup and go out and get a victory against Villa. We know where our weaknesses are now so we can work on them.

Saw the game. We were too lethargic, too slow on attack. No energy from Bianchi, Elano, and Petrov. Bianchi played mid-week in League Cup so it may have affected him. But Elano and Petrov looked like they had too much rest.

Mpenza was useless as usual. Big tall strong guy but he has no headers (prob. 1 in 10 success rate). We need a world-class striker to replace him.

Our defense is okay. Problem is offense. Need to bring in more attackers especially with Boji injured.

Two tough games. It happens. Chalk it up. A week to rest up for some of these guys, specifically Deitmar. Petrov has to start getting his sh*t together. Bad call on Dunne, ref was lookingto even it up. Not worried, move luka to CB put Nedum at RB. Give Richards arm band.

Great post. We arent going through any bad form at all, we got outmuscled by Blackburn and we didn't have a plan B. Before the season started I would have taken 9 points by this stage because we've played two of the big 4 already and I can guarantee not many teams will leave Blackburn with even a point this season. We've been playing better football but it is the result that matters and Blackburn play that way the whole time - Their football isn't beautiful to watch but it is effective. We also seem to forget that we have a whole new team so a 'gelling' period is happening where the players get used to their team-mates and most haven't played in the Premiership before. We aren't going to win every game and we will get beaten by teams like Blackburn, especially away but we should be better adapted at home. Don't expect miracles, what Sven has done so far is impressive and he is leading us in the right direction. For anyone to criticise one of the players now is stupid and they won't all immediately settle. Give it another month, perhaps two and the team should be a lot better. We said we would be happy with top 10 and we're on course for that - We won't be in trouble of relegation but neither will we be right at the top this season. I think it will be at Christmas when we play our best where the team will have gelled and we can add a couple more players come January and we should be in a good position.

There was nothing wrong with Mpenza or Bianchi against Blackburn other than we weren't getting any supply to them. Our midfield was outrun and we need to learn to play a bit more like Blackburn, but it will come. Our defence was dodgy but for the 1st time in 5 games and other than Dunne are all inexperienced so some mistakes and offdays have to be expected.
