All Whites can't get reasonable ranking and dropping will continues if they don't arrange friendlies
they should arrange matches in Oct & Nov int'l matches days

P.S. I found Indonesia will play home match with them on 10th Nov in FIFA.com, is it true?

If it is, then NZ soccer is very quiet about it. I heard that Graham Seatter mention that we have finished the All Whites games until next year. So that game againest Indonesia may not happen. It could have been pencilled in and NZsoccer may have not told FIFA.

OFC needs to have confederation championships every two years rather than every four years and get some intercontinental matches for all OFC countries againest some AFC, CAF or some Caribbean countries at least for experience and build up strength. They can't hope to get big points off NZ games. Even NZ need FIFA point elsewhere.

For example Solomon Islands since 1963 has only played OFC members or affiliates and only one AFC country Guam twice which is bottom of the AFC list.

Fiji since 1951 has played only OFC except for playing againest Taiwan and Indonesia in 1981 WC quailfiers when the asian road open and then close for a South Amercian road that only Aussie and NZ took and two matches they won againest very low India AFC side in 2005.

Tahiti only had one 1980 match againest Mexico which they lost 0-1. and played Guam once.

New Caledonia had one game againest Bulguria in 1973 which they lost 3-5. The highest rank country they had ever played.

PNG has a few games againest AFC in the 1976 Olympic qualifiers and 1984 Merdeka Tournament tournament and some friendlies but not for a long time.

People saying that FIFA ranking does not matter are not seeing that OFC countries are getting avoided by the rest of the world. The rest of the world can't be bother getting prepared for a lower ranked country, they can't be even bother sending their 2nd or 3rd or youth teams for preparation purposes.

They see OFC as a joke.

They placed OFC in the WC road through South Amercia so the South Amercians 5th can have an easy road. I guess they didn't backed on Australia in getting through and doing well at WC, although we knew in other times they could have reach the round of 16 in other WCs if they didn't have SA road and a half decent coach.

They considered Auckland City to have an extra qualifer for the Club World Cup in Japan.

They never really want OFC have one place in the mens WC finals despite having good representation and placings in the other FIFA tournaments in age groups etc. How many times do we have to heard "that OFC country was a surprise package at the tournament" or "Didn't expect them to do that well" at these tournament. Honesty, I'm sick to death of those comments.

OFC is the most untapped region of the whole soccer world. The only countries that benefit greatly tapping into the OFC region is France and Croatia taking players from New Caledonia and Australia for their national teams, admittedly they have the professional infrastructure but can you blame the players if they want international matches againest stronger teams.

What OFC needs to do is to intivite strong teams to go on an easy month pacific tour as a mental preparation tour or some tourist tour with great benefits. Sound tacky but a lobby buddy to buddy atomsphere to make their teams feel welcome for the next tour can help prepare their teams to mentally rebuild for some tournament and sort tensions out within squads is actually good preparation for team bonding.

    Anyway

By "we" do you mean the All-Whites. And if you do why should we be 80th?

    FIFA ranking for December :

    131 New Zealand -
    150 Fiji up 3
    160 Solomon Isl up 4
    167 Vanuatu up 1
    173 Tahiti up 1
    176 New Caledonia -
178 Papua New Guinea up 1
    187 Samoa up 3
    188 Tonga up 3
    197 Cook Isl -
    198 American Samoa -

No matches and no extra ranking points for Oceanic countries , but other countries have lost some ranking points . Thats why some Oceanic countries have rised in the rankings.

Perhaps the could use the some of the old Austrailian slice of the OFC's income to tempt an 'unlucky' nation that failed to qualify for a WC or continental competition to tour the region? (should NZ or other members similarly fail WCQ)

A bit of money, a chance to test out some of your rising players and new coach against supposed lesser competition?

In the last decade you could of had England, Holland, Cameroun, Colombia or even regular visitors such as Uraguay.

sorry but dam looks like this is getting worse and worse for the OFC and AFC i mean christ sakes even unindependent countrie do better than yall well because of the talent they have such as Basque County and Catalunya and the rankings are pretty scarry wow they really need to give yall a chance but i think they wont because they think of yall as worthy teams to play and that yall dont have the talent to hang with these teams i mean theres a lot to be done here and i would love to see a AFC and OFC participate in the WC but its looking kinda bleek so best of luck to the OFC and Indonesian league and Malaysian league love it most of the african players go there its like a haven for old african players or up and comers so best of luck peace

Solomon Island and Papua New Guinea were going to play today but the match was postponed because of flight difficulties.

There are also matches between New Zealand and Fiji in August.

A sad state of affairs. I'd love to see the OFC nations play against some ASEAN nations.

They have started playing some friendlies now. Solomon Isl beat Papua New Guinea 2-1 , and New Caledonia beat Vanuatu 5-3.

South Pacific Games from late August will give the Oceania teams many ranking points .

    Whose paper?

Tahiti lost 4-0 (that's four-nil) to Solomon Islands in the 2006 World Cup Qualifiers. How does that make them the 2nd-best in Oceania?

They also just lost 1-0 to New Caledonia in the South Pacific Games in Samoa, and didn't make it to the final of the 2003 South Pacific Games either, losing 4-0 to New Caledonia at the group stage, and finishing in 4th place after losing 1-0 to Vanuatu.

So, finishing 4th in the South Pacific Games, and 5th in Oceania World Cup Qualifying would seem to suggest they are at best 4th or 5th in Oceania. Not sure where you got the "2nd best on paper" from. They may have been 2nd best 10 years ago, but a look at results since then will show you that this is no longer the case.
