We started out 3-1-1 the first 5 games, the last 5 games the same 3-1-1, the middle games 1-7-3. So with all these new players/coach let's see what the last 9 games bring. I think in the last 9 games of the season we need 19 pts to make in the playoffs. The only thing bad about that were playing the better teams in those 9 games (DC,NY,NE,FCD,CHIVAS), the combined records of the last 9 games are 65-50-32 (That's with LA's 3-10-5). So if were going to make the playoffs and make a run for the CUP, were going to earn it that's a tuff schedule. Let's just hope the last 9 games don't go as the middle part of the season.

That's not including were playing DC and NY twice, if you use there record twice that's 87-65-38.

If my thinking is right, essentially we have to match Columbus' results and beat them at home on the 8th. That should give us the final berth if we can do that.

You've got way too much free time on your hands. ;)

I think we might be able to sneak in with less, but if your 19 point assumption is correct, then we need 6 wins and a draw. Looking at the 9 games we've got left, I think the best opportunity at picking up 3 points is our next 3 games (Bulls, Crew, Bulls) and our last game against LA.

If we are so lucky, we'd have to pick up another 2 wins and a draw against Dallas, DC (2), Chivas and NE.

A tall order, but I have faith that we'll get a little help from a couple of teams heading in the opposite direction over the remainder of the season.

Yes, I've got too much time on my hands.

i'd love for it to come down to the LA Game... see which DP will lead his team from the cellar to the playoffs. Blanco v Beckham/Donovan.

Would you really trust the league to give us a chance in that game? I would expect them to get more than the 2 PKs they were handed in HDC July 4.

LA should be safely eliminated from the playoffs well before that match.

    see post right above yours....

    or...

"MLS announced to day that it has once again Bent the Rules for Beckham, and the LA Galaxy have loaned King David to the Red Bulls for the remainder of the 2007 season."

    at NY (L)
    at CLB (W)
    vs NY (W)
    at FCD (T)
    vs DC (W)
    at Chivas (L)
    vs NE (W)
    at DC (W)
    vs LA (W)

That's how I had it about 2 months ago, but the way we've been playing I see us tying or winning the NY game so that would give us 20 or 22 points (We would have 46 or 48 points that should place us 6 or 7 place).

LOL. I could see this one:

"MLS Commissioner Don Garber announces that in the interest of the league, the MLS team which advances farthest in Superliga will receive an automatic berth to the 2007 MLS playoffs. This will be a one-year experiment, and will be re-examined before the beginning of the 2008 MLS season"

The only problem is that there's going to be only one DP on the field, Mr. Beckham injuried his knee and he'll be out atleast 6 weeks if not longer.

Yeah, I jinxed it. But not really, cuz like Beckham, MLS bent the rules for Landycakes, too. Oh well, there is still enough hate for Donovan to go around to make the crowd go wild. When discussing the upcoming schedule with interested Blanco fans, I mention I can get them tickets to every game except the Beckham game. This gets an "oh well" kind of response. But when I mention that it is also the DONOVAN game, they ask if it'll be on tv... mention that whoever is playing the Fire has on their roster someone who is a big name from the US squad (like Donovan or Reyna), and the interest level increases....
