Well done. He would've had a tough time breaking into the NUFC 11 this year. Hell Duff and Alan Smith will have a tough time as well once Barton is back.

    Effective immediately too.

Sounds like a great move, especially if he's looking at first team playing time in La Liga.

    Very cool.

Awesome news. Hopefully he can see some first-team action over there. So did I see right that it starts immediately? I.E. he could play for them next week?

    Gotta admit...incredible suspenseful saga...with a cool conclusion.

Hope it works out for Danny. Kindof worried that the Spanish ladies will be a HUMONGOUS distraction :)

You guys catch that bit at the end. Apparently he's friends with Rossi.
How 'bout USSF (via Nike) offering Danny a million dollar commission to bring Rossi back into the fold :)

If Ives is wrong, what's the harm? We can always start a new thread when he gets it right.

Last one in the pool ...

will Danny count against the 3 non-EU La Liga rule or does his Polish passport preclude him from the rule?

If he does, than that's a great sign he'll get immediate PT.

What if Ives picked the Crew to win the championship? :D

    Per Ives ...

"Szetela, who signed the deal via fax on Friday afternoon, is set to travel to Spain over the weekend to take his physical. He currently holds a Polish passport which means he won't count toward Racing's foreign player total."

Does not count which was probably one of the main attractions to him besides his game of course. They also have a fellow Pole on the team, Ebi Smolarek.

Since he has a polish passport he wont count against the 3 non-EU la lige rule.

    SOLID!!!

Hopefully Szetela breaks into the first team there.....shows what a great U-20 WC can do for someone.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves yet though. Adu and Zizzo have made a grand total of 0 league appearences for their respective clubs so far, and Adu has played only about an hour in one CL match. Not to mention Donovan, who signed with Leverkusen after being voted MVP at the youth championship, only to find he couldn't deal, and go to MLS.

I think most people are happy about the opportunity. Guys like Adu and Zizzo have big time opportunities but shouldn't be judged right now.

So he given the fact that they paid a transfer fee to MLS(and colombus) is it safe to assume that he will not wait until the end of the season to move or does he have to stay with colombus until the end of the mls season.

Just to rephrase, I'm stoked about the opportunity, and I think Danny will rise to the challenge. Same with Adu and Zizzo. The point I was making is that he's most likely not going to step right into the first team right away, and if he doesn't, we shouldn't all jump on him or anything.

that's a safe assumption otherwise he could've gone on a free transfer

Cool place to be. I love Santander, and especially the Cantabria region. I don't know about Szetela breaking right into the first team, though. But if you're going to cut your teeth, Santander is a kickass place to do it.
