Just got back from DSG, and they were selling a MLS jersey try to guess which one there selling and which one they weren't selling. Yeah they had Los Angeles Galaxy Beckhman jersey there, and NO CHICAGO FIRE jersey. What a joke there selling Los Angeles jersey's and NO FIRE Blanco jersey's. No wonder some people don't even know we have a team in this city, they rather sell LA stuff over CHICAGO stuff. I know that the league paid alot of money for this guy, but there also paying Blanco a good salary also (2.7 million), would it hurt to put his jersey's in there considering it's a CHICAGO store.

all the local Target store sell MLS team soccer balls. The only teams i have ever seen (at multiple stores) are LA, Chivas, and DCU. You would think being in the Chicago area they would at least have one for the Fire.

    Breathe, breathe.

    There.

Now, if I recall this correctly from other threads, there are just not many Blanco jerseys to go around and the ones that got produced are already at TP or a few select soccer stores. I wouldn't blame Dick's. It might be Adidas, but my guess is that they were very, very conservative since we are changing shirts and adding a sponsor for next year.

There will be plenty of 08 Blanco jerseys to go around.

I was at Sports Authority in Niles yesterday... they sell Gals gear. No Fire gear.

It's kinda pathetic. Makes me support Eurosport or Centrum Sport more.

Lets be realistic...stores will only sell what people buy. I live by Toyota Park and the Fire stuff they had at Kmart on 79th St at the Walgreens on Archer used to have a Fire stuff on clearance. Kmart had a whole shelf of Fire stuff on clearance. Why? BECAUSE NO ONE BOUGHT them. Just becuase we cant Finde the Blanco shirt we want at TP doesnt mean Dicks could sell out a shipment of them. ....well if there was a Dicks on 26th street may be. Mainstream people wo care nothing about soccer will bu a Beckham jersey. Even so...apparently those arent selling out there either.

The Dick's in Tinley Park had a decent amount of Fire jerseys about 3-4 weeks ago. I went in there yesterday and all they had left was Fire t-shirts.

    And a few Galaxy/Beckham jerseys.

the issue about Blanco jerseys aside..I think the point is also that Dick's doesn't sell ANY Chicago Fire gear or MLS gear for that matter. Add Sports Authority to that list. (although the one on Fullerton is fully stocked on Mexican Nat'l team jerseys...)

Galyans (purchased by Dicks two years ago) used to stock a decent amount of Fire gear. Not long after the Dicks takeover the stock of Fire gear declined significantly. Actually, since the takeover, the amount of soccer gear available has declined significantly. Dicks is much less soccer friendly than Galyans (best sports store in the Chicagoland area) was.

again, that may be a store-by-store decision because the new Dick's in Deer Park has several racks full of Fire gear.

The fact over half of Fire gear historically is ugly crap doesn't help move it off the shelf, either. But then again that's true of most major sports mechandise.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Fire tee at the Dick's out here in Arlington Heights. The also had jerseys, home for sure, I can't recall if they had away. The Beckham stuff was front and center at the entrance.

This season I've been to two Dicks locations (Touhy and Schamburg) and they both had Chicago Fire jersey's and t-shirts. I think some people may not see them because I found them in a section they have for local sports and not in the soccer section. Also, I had to kind of look for it. But they did carry them. Also, we as fans have to actually purchase merchandise so they will continue to carry and expand types of merchandise. What stores carry, is all based not only on what sells, but how quickly they sell it.

Inventory turnover is key!!! Not only can faster sales result in more sales and more dollars, it helps keep costs down on those items.

Assuming Dicks stores are corporately owned, chances are the inventory decisions are made at the DSG office by a merchandise buyer with little to no local knowledge of any of the markets except his own. It could be up to the individuals stores to request special items, and realistically there probably aren't that many people who actually go and request Fire stuff.

Plus, stores are not under the obligation to stock something simply because it exists, there is a cost associated with everything, and they're trying to maximize profits...

Hate to raid your boards, but a prespective from Colorado.

At every Dicks there are MLS team gear, though the Rapids have an entire section of the store to themselves, along with tickt kiosks. I went to a store in NM and they had a lot of MLS gear as well, at least we can all find it somewhere, rather than nowhere...

Coincidently I went to premium shops in Aurora and at the Addidas (or maybe it was Nike)outlet the only MLS jersey they had was Colorado and they had a bunch on the clearance rack. Seriously.

I went to a Dick's today in Vermont and all they had was a few LA Beckham jerseys. Oh, and one random Rapids Jersey.

I feel almost obligated to post on this thread. So I will just say that I have never bought a Ballsy Dong at a Dick's but I did get a little titillated when I asked the girl if she knew where I could find the new large size Hawg Wobbler.

To SOT I will point out that David Beckham is the best player in the world and Blanco is just another hot head right wing gun nut.

Now, I don't for a second condone the fact that no Fire jerseys were there. But at the same time, I 1000000% support the fact that Beckham jerseys were there. Beckham jerseys have been selling like crazy, and as a business, you'd be nuts to not stock them these days. I may not like the fact that everyone is jumping on the Beckham bandwagon, but cash is cash and Dick's Sporting Goods/Adidas/MLS should have no regrets about taking said cash in exchange for product.

Yes, I agree. Dick's is definitely not very soccer friendly.

I wasn't aware you could buy a good pair of shorts and a couple pairs of soccer socks at the stadium. Kindly point me in the direction of the rack containing them. Oh wait, you took my post out of context and decided to be a dick while ironically enough defending Dick's. My apologies.

So you're telling me that Dick's Sporting Goods don't carry shorts and socks? That's something that I will refuse to believe until I see that myself. The closest one to me is in Racine, which means I won't be visiting it anytime soon, but when I'm back in Springfield next weekend I'll have a chance to check out the store there to see about this.

Was in DSG in Lombard on Butterfield today and they had plenty of soccer gear and team related gear, Celtic, Barc, Man Utd, Real Madrid, AC Milan, USA, Brazil, England, plenty of Beckham and oh 2 long sleeve Fire T shirts - yeap 2 long sleeve Ts buried behind a row of international teams. At least they had more than the new Sports Auth that opened yesterday at Yorktown (about 1/4 mile away) they had zero of any team. DSG does have a cool climbing wall, those kids sure can climb and that is the girls (the boy got half way and quit)
