http://www.star-telegram.com/549/story/219363.html So that explains how adding Denilson is going to work.
huh...... well, at least we get to keep everyone. Then Ruiz can get his green card, and Saragosa can try to come back next season. I had expected Serioux to be the one going on season ending IR to free up the spot, but at least we didn't have to get rid of anyone.
He was out for about a month to start the season and then reinjured his knee on July 4th. I think it is a meniscus problem..
Surgery? Isn't that pretty convenient? Not really a cool way to treat a guy who has played a lot of minutes this year (if this is bs).
Saragosa wouldn't go through with surgery just as a favor for FCD. My guess is his knee has been bothering him ever since the July 4th reinjury. After Denilson signed they approached him and said "Hey we like and would like to have you healthy for next year, but you are the odd man out this year. We can try to trade you or cut you and you can try to impress on a new team with a bum knee, or you can shut it down for the year, get paid, and come back strong next year." Just a hunch.
Can't remember which game I was watching on TV (but it was recently), and I remember them doing a close-up of Saragosa. He was rubbing his knee and grimacing, so I can believe that this is for real. Plus, I DON'T see Coach Morrow trying to be deceptive with this. I just don't see him treating the players that way. I do think it's a "lucky break" for Saragosa and maybe for the team.
Why not? If the guy has been laboring with an injury and he needs surgery, getting it done and rehabbing it while continuing to get paid by the team isn't that uncool, especially since in the meantime, Ruiz gets his green card and relieves the team of most of the pressure to get rid of Saragosa.
yeah, you boys jump on the medical bandwagon too soon. Marcelo was practicing with Denilson the other day. Think about the timing. If Fish gets his green card before today then Marcelo is fine but you can't bet the farm that a green card is coming in the mail today so option 2 is taken. As long as the league is cool with it then fine by me.
Whatever we may think of Saragosa's skills on the field, he is reportedly a very popular guy around the lockerroom. I would imagine he's a big part of making the new spanish-speakers welcome and "at home" with FCD. This is a master genius move, imho, cause it keeps Saragosa with the organization and also gets Denilson on the books.
Some of y'all are so caught up in the conspiracy theory mindset that when something good happens for your team you still don't believe it. Wow. Haven't you guys heard of players playing through nagging injuries/holding off on surgery?
Could it simply be that the injury isn't serious enough that he required surgery right away and if not for the Denilson arrival he would have played out the season and THEN had the required surgery? In either case he needs the surgery, it is just a matter of when he gets it done?
I agree with you except I would never consider an injury a "good" thing especially when it requires surgery. However since he is injured and that cannot be changed, why not use it to our benefit?
Of course - I'm sure 'Celo is worried about how the surgery will come out and I'm hoping for the best for him as well. But it sure does provide an elegant solution.
I'm probably showing my ignorance, but I always thought it would be a relatively short jump from Portuguese to Spanish, at least relative to Portugues - English. I mean, I'm not fluent by any stretch (not a native speaker or anything...took spanish in jr high, high school, and college), but I think I can pretty much pick up the gist of what someone is saying when they're speaking brazilian portuguese.
I watched BJ Symons set NCAA records at Tech on a torn ACL (with meds) so I know a player can play with knee injuries but why didn't we get the year ending injury update the day after Denilson's signing? Work visa or not we didn't need Marcelo...we didn't have any games to play. The only thing that makes sense is that they were waiting and hoping to get Fish's green card. Just because I ask the question doesn't make me a Marcelo hater. I actually hope we keep him around for a long time. He has more intangibles than anyone on the team (all two of them).
