The other thread was a disaster from the start because it focused on players that have nothing to do with El Tri, hopefully this one will turn out better. Which Mexican players do you think could start on other national teams?

    For me-
Rafa Marquez could probably start on any national team including Brazil, Argentina and all eruo teams.
Gio could also start on any national team.

Not yet with Gio but soon...:) I also think Nery could start anywhere which is why it's really a bummer he's in the Ukraine. I'm not too crazy about these hypothetical threads in the first place...

This is my first post in the Mexican National Team forum. My allegiance is for the US Nat. team, however I follow the Mexican Nats since I studied in La Autonoma de Guadalajara con los tapatios.

Mexico is a very talented squad and is very deep. I agree with Nicamex1935 that Nery and Rafa Marquez would start on virtually every National Team. The amazing thing about Nery is that he is fairly small but can break down defenders pretty much anytime he wants by using his technique and pace ie in Copa America against Brazil. When US plays Mexico, Nery is usually the scariest player on the field for El Tri. If El Tri had an above average target forward who could settle the ball in the final third and service the ball to him. Nery's production could be greatly enhanced.

Potentially, Gio and Vela are extremely talented and have the ability to move in this elite status. Now that they are both playing in Europe, I believe that their ability will progress greater with an increase in competition. Speculation exists that Gio will be dealt to Manchester City which means that he will be paired up with Nery. The key to their improvement is playing time, good coaching, and bettering their game each day.

Can anyone give me any insight on any other young players (sub 17)that are upcoming who can potentially make the Senior National team?

It appears that sometimes these threads lose sight of goal of participation of other countries to educate one about the makeup of each country's national team. Although El Tri and USA are bitter rivals, it is my belief that if these two rivals can better their quality level then the two will be better prepared for 2010. It would be nice to see Concacaf raise its level of play so that we would receive more respect internationally.
Good luck, with the qualification process.

P.D. No puedo ver la hora de ver el partido de USA e El Tri en Azteca. No hemos ganado en DF y creo que va a ser muy dificil. :) Saludos!!!!!

I am from Tampa, Florida. I lived in Guadalajara for six months and three months in Monterrey. My spanish is a work in progress, but I am trying to practice here.

Welcome Joel. I have fond memories of playing pickup games on the autonoma practice fields.
