First match after a comfortable European victory and it's against the doormat of the league. Let's make them feel at home in Anfield.

    -----------------Reina
    Finnan-----Agger-----Arbeloa------Riise
    Pennant---Masch----Alonso------Babel
    -----------Torres----Kuyt

    Subs:
    Itandje
    Hyypia
    Momo
    Crouch
    Voronin

    3-0 to the good.

I like that line-up, although I'd sub in Crouch for Kuyt. Not because it's the better combination, but I'd like to see Torres and Crouch get a partnership going and Derby is a nice side to try it against

    +1.

Not sure if Crouch/Torres will ever be the preferred strike partnership, but it could be interesting. Crouchy has always deserved more playing time than he's given and Derby looks like a harmless game to give him time and keep him relatively happy.

The way Dirk played today it really seems like he and Torres will work well together.

why mascherano??....i mean, they wont attack us much so i think we should go for sissoko to pressure up field to score goals!...so ill agree with the line up, but sissoko should play instead of masch.

with sami having a broken nose and carra out, i'd love to see wee Hobbs get a start. it is Derby, at Anfield, after all. about the least harmless debut the boy can make.
from what we've seen thus far, two new strikers will come in for the game. though i'd love to see crouch partner torres.

    -------------Reina
    Finnan(c)--Hobbs--Agger--JAR
    ------------Masch
    --Benni------Xabi------Babel
    --------Vironin---Torres

Subs: itandje, arbeloa, momo, pennant, kuyt

I don't think Rafa will start Hobbs if he has to pair him with Agger. Let's wait to start Hobbs when Carra is fit or in a Carling Cup game. Just because it's Derby at Anfield doesn't mean we can throw out a reserve side and win. I say go with a safe lineup, much like the one against Toulouse. Unless you are going to put three at the back.

    --------------------Reina-----------------------
    Finnan-----Arbeloa------Agger---------Riise--
    Yossi------Alonso-------Lucas----------Babel
    ------------Torres-------Crouch----------------

Subs: Itandje, Hobbs, Pennant, Momo, Kuyt

I think that Torres or Crouch (or both should be able to net a brace). I will say 4-0 to the good and to stay unbeaten in the league. Maybe give a subs position to Hobbs and maybe one other youngster. I guess it all depends on how strongly Rafa feels.

With all respect to Pennant, I think Yossi should be first choise for Rafa on the right. Today he showed his class to the Liverpool fans.
After watching the first few L'pool matches this season, I havent really seen much from Pennant, hes gotta get his act together.
I would like to see Yossi start this game and give him some premiership minutes this season.
Voronin and Torres up front with Crouch coming off the bench. I think Voronin is the surprise signing of the summer, hes a brilliant striker, has that big body and is quick with a nice shot.

    Where's Kewell??

Do you even have to ask where Kewell is? He's injured  No...... honestly... he is :)

Yossi played a full game against Tolouse, he wont get the game against Derby, Pennant will come in for him again. If Yossi can keep up that form though, he will be first in line for the bigger league games that will be coming up.

We have a big squad now, Torres will come back into it, Crouch will make way onto the bench, Babel will start on the left.

    ---------------Reina----------------

    Finnan-----Arbs----Swagger-----Riise

    Pennant----Alonso----Masch----Babel

    ----------Torres------Kuyt-----------

Oh and 3-0 to the good guys.

    -------------Riena--------------
    Finnan---Hypia--Agger---Arbeola
    Pennent--Mash--Alonso--Yossi
    ---------Torres--Babel---------

I'd play Mash infront of the back four to try and protect Hypia.

This would be the game to try something out, but I think our best strike partnerships are Kuyt/Crouch and Voronin/Torres.

    My Lineup

    -------------Reina--------------
    Finnan---Hyypia--Agger---Arbeola
    ---Babel--Mash--Alonso--Yossi---
    ---------Torres--Crouch---------

2-0 to the good guys (Although my dad said he'd be cheering for Derby). I'd love to see Babel get one this game. It would be well deserved.

Why wouldn't Yossi play two in a row???

Im backing Torres for a hat trick in this one!

    ---------Crouch--Kuyt------------

Having a Forum member calling themselves YossiBenayoun supporting the claims of Yossi Benayoun to play is a bit unsurprising. You are no doubt a supporter of his - hence the handle. He must be your favourite player. Maybe you should have an online discussion with Forum member JermainePennant about who should start. Then Forum member RafaBenitez can make a choice.

Then Forum member JoseIAmTheSpecialOneMourinho can start an argument with ArseneIAmNotAVoyeurWenger about who is better Gallas or A Cole. :D

Seriously, Benayoun played very well against Toulouse. Maybe Rafa will start him against Derby. Who knows? Only Rafa.

Well yeah he is my favorite player, ive been watching him since his early days at Maccabi Haifa.
But I am a Liverpool fan even before Yossi joined the squad. In Israel, Liverpool is a very popular club with the football fans. I guess it goes back to the days of Rocket Ronny Rosenthal in the early 90's, he was actually on the Liverpool squad that last won the premiership. It even goes way back to the late 70's when Avi Cohen was a pool player. So yeah a part of me wants Yossi to play because hes my fav, but also i think he has the talent that can help Liverpool win.
Anyways, only Rafa "The Rotation" Benitez knows.

I think Torres and Voronin will start again or Kuyt alongside Torres because of his good showing and that he might get off the mark in the league as well.

Everyone is pretty confident about this game and predicting a pretty easy victory but I think it'll be rather hard. It's more difficult to play without Carra and Gerrard in the PL than it is in Europe because its just so fast paced and physical.

And while Momo has looked a little more potent going forward I still don't consider him an effective attacking midfielder so I don't know why everyone is expecting goals from him all of a sudden.

    I see:

    Finnan - Agger - Arbeloa - Riise

    Pennant - Mom - Masch - Babel

    Kuyt - Torres

I see Torres starting most games.
Rafa will want him to adapt to the EPL quickly
He won't rest Torres for a while, not until the Dec busy period I would think.

I think Pennents got the right wing for now. I'm not his biggest fan, but my thoughts are if he's playing well enough to keep Yossi out, then he's doing a good enough job (probably our best player so far). The one thing that does worry me about Pennent is that for all his good work on the wing he isn't a goal threat himself, which Yossi certainly is.

I suppose it comes down to who is playing on the left. If it's babal who seems to like to cut inside, playing Yossi on the right might leave us a little narrow because he does the same thing. Where as because Pennent hugs his line more we still keep some width. Maybe Yossi will get more games if Leto comes into the team, he's looked good so far. (I won't mention Kewell for obvious reasons).

    'ahem!

On to more weightier matters, it looks as if Gerrard will miss this match.
Either that or Benitez doesn't want him to play in a mickey mouse international. After all, England have Lampard firing on all cylinders now and Hargreaves and Carrick will adequately cover ;)

And Kewell and Aurelio are back in training.

I hope your right. The more he plays the better.
But the way all strikers are looking so far, any combination would do.
In fact, looking at our strikeforce right now, I can't believe a season ago we had Craig Bellamy.

The thing with Torres as we saw against Sunderland is this. Teams in the lower half, like Sunderland and Derby County do not have the defense to deal with Torres. With him in the lineup he will either score or get the attention of the entire defense so someone else can score. These teams can't deal with his pace and his skill.
