Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Round of 16 [R] Spain - Korea DPR 3:0 Bojan 28, 50 Iago Falque 67 Tunesia - France 1:3 aet 0:1 Saivet 43. 1:1 Hadhria 49. 1:2 Le Tallec 99. 1:3 Le Tallec 105. Spain- France Quarter Final. I watched the Spain match and Bojan was amazing once again. Fabulous shooting technique and his spins to get away from defenders is first class. Not only that, he's quite strong and forceful too which is surprising given he doesn't look that built.
Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Round of 16 [R] Peru 1:1 Tajikistan Peru wins 5:4 on penalties Ghana 1:0 Brazil 10-man Ghana pulls out improbable victory http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/08/29/sports/AS-SPT-SOC-U-17-World-Cup.php
Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Round of 16 [R] I don't think Ghana's win is "improbable". Ghana has played Brazil 5x in FIFA U17 World Cup games and lost 1, drawn 1 and beaten Brazil 3x now. They have played in 4 U17 WC final matches and won the trophy twice... whilst Brazil has played in 5 U17 WC final matches and won the trophy three times If anything, it was supposed to be a close contest which could have gone either way, - between 2 FIFA Youth Powerhouses, which Fifa.com aptly described in the Pre-game preview as the WC Final in all but name http://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/matches/round=249423/match=58938/preview.html#a+final+name Oh, btw, Ghana tied Brazil 1-1 in the FIFA U17 Pre-WC 8-Nation Tournament in Korea last June. They also played that game a man down for 80mins after a Ghanaian kid was sent off in the 10th min
Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Round of 16 [R] By all means... you're entitled to your opinion. Call me old fashioned, but even though I know Ghana has a stellar squad, I'm still going to call any victory while a man down for 45 minutes against Brazil improbable.
Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Round of 16 [R] Franco Zuculini for Argentina is having a blinder against Costa Rica. He's playing attacking and defensive midfield at the same time. Calling him a two-way midfielder doesn't do it justice. Frankie Hejduk's work rate coupled with impressive skill. Wonder what it would cost MLS to buy him...
Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Round of 16 [R] Germany wins 2:1 against USA, which could have easily been a 5:1 or so England wins 3:1 against Syria Quarterfinal: Germany vs. England
Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Round of 16 [R] Nigeria continues its run. Still the only team with a 100% record. Argentina would get a chance to test this Nigerian side further.

Re: 2007 FIFA U-17 WC: Quarterfinals [R] With Spain, Ghana, Nigeria through and one of England and Germany bound to join them, it is now clearly a Europe vs Africa match up for the semis. It's interesting to note that all South American teams were knocked out by African opposition.
Wow!!! Ghana Vs Spaiin Nigeria Vs Germany What a matchup. I see an all-African finals. And Nigeria sqeaking by Ghana 2 - 1.
Spain defeated Ghana in Extra Time 2-1 to move onto Sundays final against the winner of the Germany-Nigeria Match. Bojan unfortunately received his second yellow card with seconds remaining and will miss the final. España 2 Ghana 1 España: De Gea; Nacho (Alex, m.80, Sergio R., Rochela, Morgado,; Iago (Asier), Camacho, Isma (Lukas, m.69), Fran Mérida, Aquino, Bojan Ghana: J. Addo; P. Mostró tarjeta amarilla a Boampong (GHA), Adamas (GHA), Tetteh (GHA), Fran Mérida (ESP), Camacho (ESP) y expulsó a Bojan (ESP) por dos amarillas. It's going to be a very difficult game for Germany. Nigeria is a heavy favorite and have been doing phenomenally this tournament. German/Spain would be a great final though, two of hte players of the tournaments playing against each other. GO Deutschland!
ForeverRed, you surely didn't dream of an all-European final considering the opposition Germany had to get past. Nigeria is by far the best team in this tournament. I don't think they left anyone in doubt about their ability to win it all, after seeing off potent threat from Argentina without breaking a sweat. We've got to give it to Germany though. Brave fighting to narrow the lead and threaten to bring the game level. They could easily have been down 5-0 in the first half, held on and gave a good fight. It's unfortunate that Spain have lost Bojan for the final. Surely, now they must feel the mission-impossible of beating this impressive Nigerian side got even more difficult.
"90' +1' ESSWEIN (Germany) is yellow carded. 90' +2' ESSWEIN (Germany) scores!! 90' +2' ESSWEIN (Germany) is cautioned. 90' +3' ESSWEIN (Germany) is sent off!" http://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/matches/round=249426/match=58949/index.html lol, Esswein will be remembered! Bojan (Spain) was also sent off in added time soon after scoring the winning goal in the 1/2 final against the same team - Ghana. The punishers of Ghana are cursed. Congrats to the Germans and the Nigerians, a very good tournament with a number of surprise participants.
I don't think there have been any major surprises. Nigeria and Ghana have a rich history at this level. Spain are European champions. Germany was strong and grew as the tournament progressed. The only disappointment was having to see Brazil go so soon. They were unfortunate to have to meet one of the other dominating teams so early.
