Friday August 31, 2007 Venue: Estadio Louis II in Monaco Kick-off: 2:30 EST on Fox Soccer Channel Milan are going for their 5th European Super Cup, while Sevilla CF are trying to repeat after winning the UEFA Cup the past 2 years and also winning the European Super Cup last season. Sevilla are not to be taken lightly. Juande Ramos, has done an outstanding job with this club. I think he is one of the most underrated managers right now. They are smooth on attack, but if they have any weakness it may be on defense. My Prediction: 2-1 to the Rossoneri.
I was about to start a thread on this - good job. IMO, we should win if we are to play our kind of a game, control the ball most of the time and use Kaka and Pirlo to create scoring chances.
yeah, five-man midfield versus their 4-4-2 should serve us well. also, alves versus janks would have had me urinate in my pants, but alves seems to be out of the lineup and wants a transfer pronto, so he won't be playing most likely.
yeah, he is huge for them... but it would be a little premature to write them of yet.. they are a really really good team... and while others may disagree, they should have been the rightful winners of la liga last year and are one of the most exciting teams in europe..
I don't know about the "rightful winners" of la liga. Barca was pretty tough too. But in the end all 3, RMCF included, dropped matches they should have probably won, that is why it came down to the wire. And, yes, La Liga was great last year.
Going to have to catch this one online.. My Prediction: Milan 2-0 Sevilla Goals: Inzaghi, Kaka' Lineup: Dida Oddo, Nesta, Kaladze, Jankulovski Gattusso, Pirlo, Ambrosini Seedorf, Kaka' Inzaghi Let's start this right, and get our first official trophy of the season.
Milan have made an official announcement saying they are willing to postpone the Super Cup to mourn the loss of Puerta.
Sevilla have postponed their CL qualifier tonight. And since you'd figure that match would need to go ahead before the CL draw on Friday it wouldn't leave them much rest before the Supercup. I can easily see the Supercup postponed. EDIT: It's now reported that Sevilla's CL qualifier versus AEK will be played next Monday. I don't know how this affects the CL draw. And surely they have to postpone some other games.
The UEFA Super Cup will go ahead as scheduled: http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/aug28p.html
Sad news and I think the match should have been postponed - the time is too short for people and fans to grieve before going into a very competitive match.
yeah i too think that this game should have been postponed.. but it is what it is... its a sad day for football..
it is a sad tragedy that he had died...n respect goes out to his family n the sevilla team...from a soccer standpoint, sevilla now have an emotional fight for the title now...than again they can be emotionally drained n not perform....its hard to think bout tactics n such when sum1 passes...god bless
