Here comes the reserve side. But at the rate we are losing players this could be are starting XI soon. With Kitson and Lita looking to start we should handle this side pretty easily. It's good to see that Duberry is getting fit as well. With Shorey's knock we need all the help in the back we can get.

I'd like to see Halls get another run out...

of town. (how do you do a drum roll?)

Well, this is the system that has defined us the past two years, a total reserve side that plays balls out and gets us deep enough into the cups to get everyone sharp.
Totally agree that right now it doesn't seem necessary, as we barely have enough players for a first 11, it seems.
I think golbourne is gonna be good. and Convey, Lita, Kitson need to sharpen up. Gonna be back from knee surgery (unless, as noted today, they decide to go ahead with the thing Convey had) and stoned out of my mind by that time, so looking forward to listening to this one.

Wasn't away to Swansea in the cup (FA Cup) where Convey disappeared off the radar for 6 months not so long ago? At least it might be a little better than a trip to Vetch field, although playing in front of about 3000 in a 20,000 seat stadium won't be wildly inspiring for anyone.

I wonder if Peter Mate will play, like he did v Darlington last year, where he did an impression of Maradona in about the only way he looked capable of that night.

0-0 at HT. Federici, De La, the immortal John Halls, Duberry, Sodje, Cisse, Harper, Fae, Convey, Kits, and Lita started.

Sodje sent off with his second yellow. Cisse moves to center-back, Fae moves to center-midfield, and Kits moves to the right side of the midfield.

    Another sending off?!

Well, if Sodje wasn't on the way out already, I would guess this can only heighten the desire to sell him.

    Going to extra time. Yay.

And we still haven't made a sub, unless I missed something. That's pretty weird. Swansea have used all 3.

Not enthusiastic about extra time, given they're already a man down and all the injury issues. But hopefully this will be more about getting folks like Convey and Lita back to match-fit. And getting Kitson, Cisse, Fae, etc. back into the swing of things.

Lita has scored, apparently, but whoever is doing the updates is slow.

Just before halftime in extra time. 1-0. Hopefully this will get him going and he can start and do well against West Ham.

Its over, 1-0. Pretty decent, considering about half the game was played a man down.

Wow guys... We're pretty lucky to walk away winners in this one.
We were outplayed most of the match and down a man. Pretty much the B team here, but nice to see Lita getting a goal, hopefully he can continue on with what he did here today, I'm really liking him and hope that he'll become a regular contributor.

    Who's our next opponent?

I listened to the last half hour or so on Swansea radio. There was a great comment by one of the commentators, trying to impress upon the listeners how well Swansea had played, highlighting that it wasn't a genuine "reserve" team from Reading.

"This may not be the full first team, but there are plenty of players in that team who have played a lot of premiership football this season out there.....players like Dave Kitson".

I'm not denying the sentiment, but perhaps an unfortunate example.

Maybe on the swansa side, 15 seconds is a lot.
