OK, so your name is Jürgen Klinsmann (choose your own adventure i guess)... what will be some of your first moves in the first 30 days? Whos gone? who stays? Everyone is on the line here... GM, coaches, trainers, players, food, anything and everything... Try to think in the Klinsmann mindset too.

Id say Pavon & Buddle are moved ASAP if they dont produce in the final tonite.

you make it sound like he's coming in as the new owner of the galaxy....i thought he was just going to be coaching the players.

No Matter What happens I unload Klein, He has been the biggest mistake this organization has made. We traded two young talented players, one a great defender with very good foot skills and the other a speedy forward who could pressure of the bench. Klein brought none of these attributes and a much bigger salary. Then we go scouting for young talent in south america and southern cali that would mean spending more on talent scouts. I would also request a limit in freindlies played during league play. Also a clause stating that the only person who can have a trade happen can be me. Any interferance from the GM or front office of on the field performance and I am out and you still gotta pay me.

Sign Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

(Okay -- More than being an excellent midfielder, I mostly just want as many opportunities as possible to yell SCHWEINSTEIGER!! at the top of my lungs.)

The HDC concessions start selling authentic Stuttgart pretzels made according to Mama Klinsmann's recipe from Backerei Klinsmann.

Youre right, im a bit over anxious to get our team back on track I guess. But as head coach, he should be able to make deals, trades, signings, firings, etc of personnel and players. This is the exciting part and one I hope will turn this team around with a better group of guys that want to WIN and not just collect their paychecks.

Actually this sounds pretty good. I forgot about Klein.

Is Gray worthy of our team or has he become useless to us?

This, right here, is the most important thing to have happen.

Call in a favor to Hef. The players need a male bonding session. If Hef can't come through, take em to The Rhino.

my original point is klinsmann will only be the coach...and the coaches have no authority to fire anyone or even sign anyone....that's the president's/gm's job.

    Don't do anything!

My biggest fear is that we're going to scramble the team once again. It seems like a certainty with JK, but the thing is, the reason that I want JK is that he's a smart guy. My hope is that, as a smart guy, he'll think about what is best for the team rather than automatically trying to remake the team in his image.

I disagree that everyone needs to go. Right now we are a team in disarray, cursed by injuries, facing an absurd schedule. Under these conditions, it is a rare player who is going to look good. JK should take the rest of the season and just evaluate the players. Determine who has potential and who does not.

I would give Kirk games at right back. It seems unfair for someone so young, but he's at a critical time in his Galaxy career. This is his third year, and if he graduates to the senior roster next year he'll be making around $100K. This is starter money. We need to determine his future with the team.

Pavon and Buddle need to get lots of time. I really haven't decided on either of them. Neither of these guys are going to rescue the team. But they might be good enough to get the job done if everyone else is doing their job as well.

I really hope we aren't planning on bringing in 8 new starters next season. It was a mistake this year and it will be a mistake next year as well.

okay all, let's ignore the semantics and answer the general thrust of the question... pretend this is the "you just won the lottery" question, no one answers it seriously and talks about tax attorneys and blind trusts, they talk about how many ferraris they're going to buy.

    i'm assuming a post-season change.

    1) i waive or trade the following:

    vagenas
    gray
    gordon
    klein
    martino
    pavon
    roberts
    veris

    2) i use my international connections to sign a very solid center back to partner with xavier and groom harden.

    3) i trade whatever combination necessary of pete/martino/klein/gordon to toronto for ronnie o'brien to fill out our right side.

    4) i trade glinton and whoever's left from the pete/martino/klein/gordon trade to houston for ngwenya (remember klinsmann said of ngwenya he's the best young forward he's seen)

    5) i use my international connections to sign a reserve side forward from tottenham or chelsea on a trade deal.

    6) i hire cobi to be my assistant coach and run practices

    7) i use the beckham/klinsmann/california connection to mop up any of the above average talent in MLS that are about to be out of contract to fill out the roster spots.

Yeah, no need to unload and get more players. Maybe unload 1 or 2, but that's it. Do we want next season to be another season of chemistry-gaining again!?!??!

Dash, all 7 of your points are excellent. And I will note to the naysayers about trading away all or some of these guys...

Just look at the last 5 game threads and read peoples player ratings. Some of these guys get a 1 or a 2 or under a 5 player rating consistently. Who wants THOSE guys on ANY team?
