We won't get the plans for the stadium, only all of the signals, poles, and traffic controllers for around the stadium. :)

Well, I want them set to turn green for 30 minutes straight to let the lots empty.

According to the publisher's website they have Commercial Construction News in these markets.

This allays my concerns, somewhat. Still getting Courtemache's name utterly wrong seems bizarre.

Well the new issue should arrive today or tomorrow, so I'll see if they re-run the ad, or, at the very least, correct Courtemache's name.

I don't know. ebradlee10's post about him calling the publisher and verifying what celt1997 has been telling us helps me sleep better.

I am still not 100% on this being THE actual, bonafide project but I'm close. More so today than yesterday.

I dont really care if the stadium is made out of mud and has old school metal bleachers. I just want a damn team.

I just perused through today's edition and they didn't have anything. Not surprising, like I said earlier. It will probably appear here and there as things progress.

I was hoping, at the very least, they would correct poor Dan's name at the bottom, though. I don't know how quick their turn around is for printing, though, as they do a few per week.

Like I said, though, I'm going to scour each issue!

I really hope they take our advice and have the entrance to the building be a sort of "Hall of Fame" of Philadelphia soccer, with a big case for all the trophies Philadelphia Independence SC is going to win.

Seriously people, I have yet to understand why Chester? It seems like a pretty unattractive place. Just trying to understand the rationale.

It's the best place that's doable. The land is cheap, and it'll be a gorgeous riverside stadium nowhere near some of the problems in other parts of Chester. It's easily accessible by highway from all parts of the region.

PJ, good question but I think your missing something here. First off, its not like we are given a option. Do you think Dallas fans were asked if they liked Frisco or Fire fans liked Bridgeview? The investor group in Philly found Chester to have the right dynamics (see PopeDX's comments). Its relatively close to Philly, the land is cheap, the city, county and now the State like the location and will financially support the project.

Sure building a new stadium next to the Linc at the Sportsplex or downtown near the Ben Franklin Bridge would be awesome, but the reality of it is that those sites are just not financially viable for the MLS team.

Thats it in a nutshell. Is that a good explanation?

It's a "take what you can get, when you can get it" approach. I don't particularly like the location either, but it's all we have at this point.

My fears stem from the commitment of ownership to develop top-shelf stadium plans. I'm hoping for a venue at least as functional as Crew stadium, but I'm not expecting the HDC...and I think the location dictates something in-between, leaning toward "excellent" rather than "basic". I mean, Chester is already a dump. At least make the stadium a destination that people other than the die-hards are going to want to travel to.

I suspect also that the alleged drawings as cited in the Phila. Construction news ad are probably just general site plans at this point.

I'm holding out hope that the group sees the stadium as a destination - not only on matchdays, but other days as well. A couple of pubs (like Blackbaud Stadium in South Carolina), Roofed main stands (leave at least one end open in case of expansion), supporters at midfield or behind a goal, a center player's entrance, fans close to the field, real grass and a nice pre-match riverfront SoB tailgate location.
