Denilson Thread V2.0

Can we please just get this guy in uniform and on the field so he can prove all the nay-sayers wrong and absolutely dominate? I mean look at what Blanco's doing, all be it that I hate his guts, he's played very well and I thought he would be shite. If Denilson is what 3,4 years younger, I think he'll be fine...

 

Texgator, you're my new hero for fixing the Denilson thread clusterfu<k. Maybe it is the OCD talking, but ten threads about the same thing drives me nuts.

 

At the end of the last thread, there was an Al-Nasr supporter who mentioned that Denilson had a problem of putting himself before the team. This is more than a little bit of a concern for me, since one of my friends in Brazil used the EXACT SAME WORDS in the scouting report I asked him for of Denilson.

Now, I don't mind selfish when selfish produces (Hi, Carlos!), but this team doesn't need a guy who bitches without producing (Adios, Ramon.) or one who is going to get frustrated with his teammates (See ya, Ronnie.).

Our playing style is going to lead to a few more wild affairs before we see the end of 2007. The absolute very last thing this squad needs is someone who's going to walk off the field after a game like the one we had in DC and be pissed because the Lizard King didn't pass him the ball for one of the goals.

That being said, our style of wild-ass football will give Denilson plenty of opportunities to show off. We've seen situations this year where players have put this team on their back and single-handedly carried the other ten into victory or out of defeat. I can recall Ruiz, Sala, Goodson, Oduro, Dax, and Toja each just seem to flip a switch and take over a match.

I'm not going to declare Denilson a failure; I hope he won't be and I don't think we will be. But I'm guessing that there's going to be an instance where he needs to learn what it means to fight for the shirt.

Denlison not like before he became very slow and he can't diribby like before and he is playing for his self more then the team

he soccer's 2 goals 1 was FK and the other was PK

the only thing he is good at is Free kick

in the last 10 matches he was out of the square

So don't expect alots from him

 

So when is he expected to play? This weekend?

 

it could be this weekend if the visa is approved in 5 business days... that's what Hitch and the Hunts are trying for.... but his debut could be on the 8th.

 

I just want people like Theo who have bitching and moaning since 2003 to STFU now. They get what they want and they best be showing up.

If he does well, great. If not, f off back to the middle east money bags.

 

Like many of you this worries me a bit but I don't have any problem resolving these worries with the general feeling of optimism. He probably doesn't have the same quickness he did 7 or 8 years ago. He probably did phone it in for the end of his stay in Saudi Arabia. There's actually a good nugget of info in there not to be overlooked, which is that he can take a mean free kick. We've been without a real threat there for a while. Dax has been putting in nice service, but we haven't had a real threat for a direct to goal free kick.

I hope he's excited by the new environment. I hope he can get fit. (Felt much better reading on 3rd Degree that Buzz thinks he already has a reasonable level of fitness.) I hope Morrow can integrate him in and get this thing rolling right before playoff time. (or I could say 'keep' this thing rolling)

I wonder if he has a history of nasty injuries? Rebuilt knees?

 

For the league the blanco, angel, beckham, xavier moves were all good ones, but this move I think is really dumb, I mean denilson sucks IMO, and I don't think that anymore people are going to go to Dallas games, just because denilson plays, so the move doesn't make too much sense.

 

I spent a week in Cairo back in April. It is one of the most Westernized countries in Africa and the Middle East but I can see how a person from the West could go into a super strict country like Saudi Arabia and become depressed and not motivated. Unless you've been in the middle of an environment like that it's hard to understand. Yes, they are extremely into football. I felt the love from anyone I talked soccer with. I was given an English version hard-bound book titled "CAF 1957-2007 50 Years of African Football" right off the press (probably an $80 book). At another printing company I got to hang out with the owner's son that was tied into Al Alhy and escorted the visiting Barca team around town. My point is that the mood of the fans could have pulled him there but the new world could be very overwhelming.

 

Sucks? then who's good? Pele, Maradona, Best and Zidane the only good players ever? I watched the '94 Brazil team play a wc quarter-final in Dallas (before Denilson's time) and I don't recall seeing any player on that team being anything but exceptional. Last year, Romario (the FIFA world player of 1994 and top player in the 94 WC) was playing in the freaking USL for Miami with another Brazilian world cup player Zinho. He then went to Sydney I believe. He went back to Brazil at age 40 and racked up his 1,000 goal for Vasco da Gama. So what you are telling me is that once a player kicks around in a sub-standard league that the player sucks?

 

Since signing Xavier, the Gals have won 5, tied 2, and lost 10 in all competitions. Twice they've given up 5 goals and three times they've allowed 3 goals. So yeah, that's a real success. And since the team has already sold all its tickets for Beckman, how the hell are they supposed to sell more with Xavier?

And don't criticize the intelligence of others until you learn how write a freaking sentence, OK?

Have your team score a freaking goal and come back and try and tell us how to do things.

Look, if Joseph Ngwenya can discover a scoring touch simply by joining Houston, I think Denilson can rediscover what he has been missing by being with a team that will appreciate what he brings to the table.

...And don't underestimate what playing next to Toja might do for his pace and work ethic, plus the space Toja can create for a creative midfielder.

I predict that Denilson will rediscover his past form when he was a phenom. I think Morrow has the right coaching temperament and tactics to make that happen.

Plus, I've always wondered how they talk any quality players into playing in the Arab leagues. Forget the money -- it's just not consistent with a Joga Bonita lifestyle. I've pretty much anticipated most high-quality players would be a bust when they are thrown into that 4th-century lifestyle and mindset.

 

I'm not denying that he was a good player, but coming from the Saudi Arabian league isn't exactly amazing.

And as for Xavier, have you seen him play in the MLS yet, without him the Galaxy would have let in a lot more goals than they already have, and all the LA games aren't sold out, and for portugese living in the US, and Canada people will want to see Xavier.

 

I take it you haven't visited the developed Middle East recently. Saudi Arabia and the UAE, for example, are swanky and attractive places to live, especially for the wealthy.

don't judge him from a clip u have to see the whole match

in this match and all the other matches he played for his self more then the team

i can say he played well in 3 matches out of 15 match

and one of them i can say he was the man of the match it was against the worst team in the league

he played the whole 90min in 3 matches only

the team was going to end his contract before the January but the new cotch give him a chance before he decided to put him out of the square

i am not saying he well not success there but i am telling you how was he doing in the last year

i think ricardinho is much better then him

in my team he never been injured but he had a serous one when he played for betis in is knee made him stop 8 month then he moved to France

 

And you lose all credibility for analyzing soccer players here.
