I have to agree with Angel on this,.. Too bad he's playing for a team that doesn't get no support from media or the fans. First it was MetroStars and then REDBull, for 12 years they killed the market for soccer so bad that no one cares any more. Our local tv ratings were better then NHL at first, now you can't even get a 1000 households to watch their games.

the ny team had better local ratings that the new york rangers...when they just won the cup and had Gretsky?

if the nhl is dying the mls is barely breathing.

nice to see you just pulled that out of your arse...1.7 million watched game 7 of the 1994 stanley cup finals...van vs NYR on MSG..I have a hard time believing anytime from 1994 to 1999 the NYR were ever out watched by the metro stars.

There's two other teams in the market, chief. At one time the Metrostars were getting rating similar or better to the Devils

And the Rangers won in 1994. MLS didn't exist for another 2 years after that. The comparison is just silly. Plus, Gretz wasn't even on the '94 team

I doubt the nyr ratings from 1996 until today were ever outdrawn by the ny mls team.

    prove it.

I can buy the devils being passed by the ny team.
its also moot to compare tv ratings from a team that plays 30 games to a team that plays 82..plus playoff games.

the problem I had with it..is that the guy generalized and lied in the first post.

  9. I seem to remember a blip in the NY Times years ago saying the Metrostars drew better numbers then the Devils and Islanders. However, the ratings were nowhere near what the Rangers pull.

I believe that..the devils have never had a great following..evn though they win.

and the Islanders have been bad for a long time.

  11. The Rangers are the only team with a real good following in the area.

the nhl is praying everynight that the Rangers start making some Cup runs.

im sure the mls feel the same way with La, Chicago, and New York.

its interesting that the nhl tv ratings have plummeted with the demise of Boston, Chicago, La, and New York from the mid 90 to today.

I bet the mls ratings are much higher when LA plays
